A New Month: Let's get Thankful!!!

While November wears several hats (ie: Election Day, Hunting Season, NaNoWriMo, the beginning of Snowpacolypses, etc...) my favorite part of this month is Thanksgiving. The food will always great, but I do believe that family gatherings will be lacking this year due to current events.

To combat this, I think we need to find other ways to focus on talking with one another about what is good in life and show gratitude for little things as well as the big.

I have a friend, and I'm sure many others out there have similar friends who have done this too, who posts on Facebook a list of things they are grateful for every day of the month up to Thanksgiving day.

I would like to follow in that tradition here in the Sentinel to start off the month of November with something I am grateful for within the realm of Heroes Rising. Yes, it is a game world, but we have to be getting something positive out of it to keep playing, right?

#1: The Trick-or-Treating Event

Firstly, as it is currently going on, I am grateful for the Trick-or-Treating event. I think it was a lot of fun and I've always been a big fan of sharing. As a community, I think the generosity of everyone who participated showed the better nature of us as online gamers. Yes, there were prizes and goodies offered to go along with the event, but I've seen many posts about houses that simply gave to be kind.

I believe this event will have some positive lingering repercussions on the game. Lower level budget toons have been exposed to Gear, Power Cards, and gifts of Bux/Morphons that would be difficult or impossible to come by. The Crystal Power Cards will make it easier for lower-level characters to bank their own Bux by not having to pay upkeep costs on several of the cards they have.

Most importantly, many players took the time to show off their own personalities with their clever greetings at the door. I hope when players review their records of items given away, they take a moment to read some of the creative messages left by some visitors.

Here are some other players who have posted on the fun of the event:

"Nick Shapiro, Justin Towe, and anyone who made this event happen kudos I've seen a community making this event pull together and make it fun to participate on both sides giving treats and running the blocks to help others reach there giving out goals. Me personally I've been trying to push creative gifts don't have to be special to be more useful that 1,000,000 bucks to some. I've messaged both of you on messenger but figured that the players could appreciate this as well...
To all of you that have put forth creative ideas into gifts are running the course helping everyone not just league mates get there gifts handed out. It's not about who can give out the most or the absolute best its just about the holidays and thinking about others and bringing a smile and some cheer. In alot of different ways I've seen to many to name giving out prizes way better than I thought anyone would, I was thinking to myself how much of a joke it was going to be but its been interesting and fun. To all in the game Happy Halloween and HAIL HYDRA!!!"

"Stick a fork in me! I'm all out!
I want to thank all those that put something out there for the game! I havent done the full tally yet but I know many players put much needed MPs, gear, powers, etc. up for grabs! I wasnt able to trick or treat much myself. A few names I can drop, John Woo, Michael Brody, Rakly Dominguez, Zen Spheniscidae all put up BIG rewards in their candy bowl! I know I missed some so thank you all. 😁
That's what I love about this game; the opportunity to help out a fellow player... then smack each down in the arena. 😉 This was a great event, with few hiccups, so bravo Nick Shapiro, Justin Towe, Dan Peyton and others involved. Great event!
Happy Halloween! 🎃🧙‍♀️☠👻"

"Thanx everyone who donated and participated in halloween trick or treating. Even though im just getting into HR . Its grat to know that our community of gamers do more than just merely play. We are indubitabley involved." -- John Tagle
"It was a great event, I've never seen anything like it. Honestly it don't even make sense, and aside from some big spenders surprising us with mp gifts (much to large to be considered logical) it was built for enjoyment and lacked any obvious profit center. Thank you developers, and players for making this game a 1 of a kind." -- John Schoenfeld

So, thank you Development Team for this fun event and thank you to every player that took part in hosting guests to your houses. Most of them were cleaner than I expected.

(Just kidding, LOL)

I enjoyed trick-or-treating and I hope others did as well. It seems they did.

Speaking of that, if you did receive an extra special goodie, take a moment and comment on this post to thank the giver. Everyone deserves recognition for what they do right from time to time. Often, a 'Thumbs Up' is seen as enough of a response of appreciation for some. Let's do better than that for 30 days, please. Let's give the same attention to what is good for a bit as we do when things aren't.

Also, if you have something you are thankful for, feel free to share a comment on the Sentinel page with your Player ID# and character name so it can be shared with others. I will record these comments and post them in upcoming articles over the next few weeks, listing you as the contributor for rewards. I'm thankful for a lot but I am sure other people are as well. This community is about all of us, so share your thoughts, big or little.

Happy November, everyone.
