Good evening, Sentinel readers. Chaz Hamilton here reporting aboard the BADGE Orbital Space Station as the first round of League War 9: Wet and Wild finished up for most. It was an exciting day of battles for many leagues. Some fought hard and some hardly fought, but when the final hour came, two leagues had tied it up, leading into the first OT round for League War 9.
Funny thing is the tie happened in Division 9 of League War 9? Freaky...
The Purple Onion is a long time participant in League Wars. Often referred to as "The Porn Squad", this league fought against a relative new league that has only been around for the past two league wars, L.U.S.H. (Legion of Unusual Super Heroes). Throughout the day, The Purple Onion carried a sizable lead, but in the last few hours, L.U.S.H. crept up on them and managed to have a one-point lead until the final minutes of the competition. Then Barking Cat of The Purple Onion seemed to wake up and take notice, evening the score and beginning an eight-hour OVERTIME period for the two leagues to continue to compete.
With 10 members, The Purple Onion has a slight advantage on numbers against L.U.S.H.'s membership of eight.
In the past, special awards have been given to leagues whose participation leads to OT rounds, but no word has been given if that tradition is to be followed this season.
As the OT round started, the top tier contenders from The Purple Onion came out swinging. Dame Echidna and Barking Cat both pummeled their opposition's membership. One of the L.U.S.H. team, Ever-Lovin' Bunny Fu-Fu returned the favor, starting out the L.U.S.H. response. Check back in eight hours to find out how this overtime turns out.
As for the other divisions, fights seemed unbalanced in most division. Many victorious leagues dominated their opposition by double-digits. Thirteen of the battles between leagues ended in scores leaving one team without even breaking out of single digits.
Silencer of High Noon Crew had this to say about League War 9:
Silencer (ID: 10991) - "The most interesting thing about the divisions is seeing Villain Inc. 2 leagues, Penguins Inc, & Avengers leagues in the same divisions.Guess Who (ID: 20314) - "I Agree, Silencer, that is absolutely the way it looks like it's boiled down to for the last round."
Some interesting wars to watch.
Gold Div.1 - WMD
Div.2 - 1Villains Inc. vs. Avengers
Div.3 - Avengers
Div.4 - 1Penguins Inc. vs. Avengers
Div.5 - 1Avengers vs. Mercs
Div.6 - 1Pain vs. Avengers
Div.7 - 1Noble Gates vs. Stacked Deck
Div.8 - 1Villains Inc. vs. Avengers
Div.9 & 10 - ?"
"The first round has been a blood bath. The weakest groups have been pitted against one of the 2 top teams in the division so the final round is going to be one to watch if some of them don't end up facing off on day 2 of LWs. I'm assuming day 2 will have at least 1 good fight to watch in the lower division but most will probably be a given as to who will win. So stay tuned in for the show it's only going to get more interesting as it progresses."
Silencer also commented on the lack of proper branding for many of the leagues.
Silencer (ID:10991) - "noticed there a many leagues using the same Logo. ?"
This comment by the Silencer brought attention to the fact that both the teams in OT did not have a specific image for their leagues uploaded.
Pay close attention and see how the OT resolves, further reports on this evening's contests, and more with the Sentinel News. Have a great night!
