Put your Skills to the Test by Challenging the Best!!! New Patrol Feature

While Patrolling in the New Amsterdam area, new businesses have made an appearance all over the place. Pushup Gyms, Pinball Arcades, and Ping Pong Halls have opened up and are available to heroes who need a brief distraction from the battles against villains and encounters with seedy black market operators.

These businesses can be found by using an Access Token, which many heroes found while battling against Rotkowski and his goon, Steelfist.

If you have an access token, you can go to the list of available Patrols in New Amsterdam and press the Gyms button and a speedy New Amsterdam Uber will transport you to one of the available locations. Otherwise, due to the popularity of secret lairs with capes, you must find a site while actively patrolling.
While there, you have options to challenge the owner of the gym for ownership, or build your skill.

Now, while this is a new feature to the New Amsterdam scene, there are challenges to participating in them. First, you must make yourself aware of what type of "gym" you are in. While there is a featured "gym" that handles contest with push ups, all of the other locations are also described as being "gyms" as well.

For instance, the three "New Amsterdam Gyms" pictured to the right are each for different skill challenges. The first is a push up gym controlled by Shinobi, named Shinobi's Dojo. The second is a ping pong location named Spiker's, owned by Viper. The third is a pinball arcade. Each "gym" utilizes a different skill, but you must make sure to pay attention to the one you choose to use. As time goes on, hopefully greater clarity is given to each type of skill a location uses.

Second, when choosing to challenge the owner of a "gym", you can choose either the owner, one of three different members, or to simply practice on your own. If you encounter a "gym" on a random patrol, it doesn't clearly identify what type of skill challenge you will face. It is advisable not to go into a gym and immediately think you are the best of the best and will win automatically. If you lose the challenge, you gain nothing. It is advisable to not assume it is a push up "gym" and use skill enhancers only to discover that while you were ready to push up, your opponent was playing ping pong.

Third, by owning a "gym", the pay-off is earning some Morphon Points and the chance at Power Cards designed to represent the skill used.

I don't know how the exact mechanics work, but the art is cool I hope to be able to collect some over time.

Overall, this could be an exciting new development for future play experiences, but more clarity needs to be provided as to what "gym" a player encounters. It seems that without knowing what skill is being used when selecting which random gym activity you encounter, there is a fair amount of wasted effort involved.

***New Flash*** This just in. "Gyms" have been seen in other patrol areas. Please check local listings for their special appearances.
