Faction Wars announcement

Chase, Gar, and EB walked through the thick crowds of heroes that gathered around the station. It was no simple task not stepping on somebody.

“I don’t know about this.” Gar said.

EB hopped up and sat on Gar’s shoulder. “It’s perfect. We have all these heroes, and they have nothing to do but sit around and be bored. Besides, we might get some good publicity out of this.”

Chase boarded a shuttle with the others and flew off toward the Orbital Arena. “I doubt it will be seen by many. The media hasn’t been on our side for a while. But, it will be a pleasant change of pace for the heroes and it might give us a boost in public opinion.”

“The people loooove their sports.” EB stated.

All three disembarked at the arena, finding it almost as stuffed as the station. They were met at the field by robot 10915 who was tending to the heroes resting on the ground.

“Director Chase, I have the system all set up.”

“Good. Get it going.”

The robot rushed off, dodging people left and right.

Gar asked, “how are we going to have an event out here? The field is covered. We’d need another place to hold it.”

“Not necessarily.” Chase stood on the floating platform and controlled it so that it lifted and hovered over the people. Heroes below took immediate notice of this action. She explained to Gar, “When this place was designed, there was a special attribute built in that we never used: stadium seating.”

Gar pointed at the small ring of seats around the field. “It’s covered with people sleeping.”

“Not that. Watch.” She waved at 10915 and the robot worked a seldom used control panel.

The stadium expanded outward, the seating folding and turning so that it would grow and add seats. In a matter of moments, what was just a few rows of seats turned into a large ring that could hold thousands.

Chase said, “Nova never wanted to have a live audience up here. That would require special transportation, which would be difficult to manage, and managing the heroes is hard enough. We didn’t use this for housing all the extra people because those seats are more narrow than the rest, making them extremely hard to sleep on. Also, when this arena is on the far side of the planet, away from the sun, the expanded seating will get really cold. However, for the event, it will be enough to seat all the heroes.”

“You are soo cool.” EB stated.

“Sure.” She activated the communication screens, tapping into all the screens all over the station and

arena. Only one was sending a message down to Earth. Her face filled the screen for all to see. “Hello Heroes. I know it has been a difficult time. Over the past few days, your leagues have been asked to form alliances into factions. I told you it would make sense eventually, well here is the explanation. For the first time, we are going to hold not a League Wars, but a Faction Wars. It will be similar, but have some remarkable differences. In this friendly competition, I hope you gain a comradery among yourselves that will help continue to build the community of heroes that BADGE supports. That community will be necessary in the coming days as we face what trials are ahead of us. For now, be ready. Faction Wars begins soon.”
