After last year, nobody thought a birthday could be celebrated harder than the 2nd Birthday Bash events. We had new Patrols introduced, including special ones promoting finding a present for Director Nova and getting a birthday cake for the BADGE celebration. There was a special League War titled Birthday Bash. Fireworks, Morphon Points, Selfies with Nova, and Super Cake were handed out to all participants who chose to show up for the festivities. Birthday cards were sent out in such numbers that the post office lost count of the total number of mailings sent.
How could anything top that?
Well, take what worked last year and make it bigger, then SUPER-size it!
This time around, there won't be a league war, there will be the first ever FACTION WAR next week. As the maximum level cap approaches 600, we see more heroes climbing the shortened steps to grow in power. The amount of experience needed to level has grown smaller for most players, allowing heroes to access more, More, and MORE power card and gear slots. Because, well, you know, becoming the biggest, badest, most powerful character is the most important thing, y'all.
The Development team also managed to find the time to create MULTIPLE new Patrols, making use of previous Mission zones, such as San Corto, Ardeal, and Invasion, and the pre-RAID 'Strange Crystals' option. 'A Gift for Nova' has returned, but is slightly anemic compared to last years greatness, as the panel pages have good rewards, but the quality of MP/consumable rewards has significantly dropped compared to what was available last year. There have been some interesting new consumables added to the mix, but are as rare as a drop of that one item you really, really want from the Nova Mystery Shuffle.
Birthday cards are a thing once again, and finding one grants a 'Ticket to Orbit' for the 'A Gift for Nova' Patrol. After the celebrations, it is possible that power cards will be given out by the Dev Team for worthy artwork, as has been done after last year's Birthday Bash and Easter. Make sure to take a few minutes to craft a card that is enough to impress your second-grade teacher and you will surely earn some reward.
There are also plenty of opportunities to celebrate the character you have created for in-game purposes. The Fiction Forum is open for you to tell stories, or collaborate with other players on stories of what is happening with your character, league, or collection of heroes. There is an open contest for origin stories from Strange Quark, as well as the option to write articles for the Sentinel. The art coloring contest by artist and core-content author Dan Peyton has been extended a few days, so there is time to make use of his sketches for potential player-made Power Card art. These extra-game activities are a fun option to kill time waiting for energy to recharge while earning some extra Morphon Point rewards.
Will these events mark the end of the 3rd birthday celebration? Maybe. Maybe not.
