Origin Story Fan-Fiction "Stellar"

Origin: Stellar
#35906

“Director Nova, we have an incoming message from NASA,” Agent Justin stated as he placed a hand over his earbud. “There’s an issue that needs our immediate attention.”

“NASA?” Gar tilted his head slightly to one side as he stood beside a seated Director Nova. “What might they want?”

“Good question. I suppose we should take the call and find out.” Director Nova tapped a few buttons on the arm of his chair and the screen displaying BADGE staff preparing the Stellar Arena for Chaos Wars faded to black. “Put them through.”

A blue backdrop with a white NASA emblem appeared with the image of a smartly-dressed African American woman’s torso immediately snapping into focus. Her name-badge clipped to her lanyard identified her as K. Vaughan, head of the space exploration organization. “Director Nova. We may have a situation that may need your agency’s intervention.”

“How may we be of assistance, Senior Advisor Vaughan?” Director Nova stood up from his seat and bowed his head respectfully to the woman’s image.

An hour ago, several satellites detected a fluctuation in the coronal mass of the sun’s photosphere and signaled the potential for a massive ejection of stellar material,” she said as images of the sun’s surface appeared on the screen next to her in rapid time-lapse. The images depicted thermographic scans of reds, oranges, and yellows going dark until a distinct spot formed in the center. “Fifteen minutes ago, what we thought was an insignificant emission occurred.”

Agent Justin brought his hand up to cover his mouth, stifling an immature giggle.

Advisor Vaughan continued without reaction to his barely audible titter. “That was until we analyzed the image more closely.”

As she spoke, a final image popped up in the lower right corner of the screen and then swelled to fill the entire screen with an extremely zoomed in view of the dark spot. A small yellow-white ring became evident, with tinier wakes rolling out from it, indicating something exited the sun’s radiant surface. Flying out from the opening, a humanoid figure shrouded by an aura of brilliant gold ascended.

“Who could survive inside of that?” Director Nova muttered quietly beneath his breathe, his brows furrowed in pensive thought.

One of the robotic drones lifted its head from the separate computer screen it worked at. “There are several mophon-enhanced individuals who might be able to tolerate the environment of the sun. Beginning with Captain—"

“Quiet, Robot 3282,” Director Nova interrupted his computerized employee. “I only said that out of surprise. It isn’t everyday you see someone exiting the sun. Mrs. Vaughan, may we have the coordinates of this… being so we can track them for ourselves?”

Mrs. Vaughan reappeared on screen, as well as notification of an information packet being deliver from her. “That was our hope, Director. Your teams may be able to assess the nature of this much faster that we could. A potential coincidence bears mentioning. It may be nothing, but the coordinates of the event are in close proximity of where the crew of the Mercurial was lost years ago.”

“That happened hours before Legion showed up here on Earth,” Agent Justin said, highlighting a long-held suspicion held by many who followed NASA’s off-world endevours. “We never knew what caused their shuttle to cease communications. All six members of the crew died that day, or so was thought. Could there be a link?”

“You know I never doubt the potential for coincidence until I’ve proved every possibility has been explored,” Director Nova said. He stroked his goatee, deep in thought. “Those astronauts would never have been exposed to Morphons, which is the only way I can imagine any of them surviving, if this is one of them.”

“We may be receiving a chance to solve a mystery that has plagued our scientific community for quite some time,” Mrs. Vaughan said with a bit of excitement to her voice.

“Or it could be a new threat,” Director Nova swiped his hand toward the large screen. A computer-generated display of the solar system from the sun to Mars appeared. A dotted line overlapped with a solid golden line representing the flight path of the person, who could be seen to have rounded the planet Mercury. “Projections show that there is an 85% likelihood the targets patter will lead it into the Earth’s orbit.”

Our system is currently tracking the unidentified traveler,” Robot 3282 said. “ETA thirty minutes until it reaches proximity to this station and Earth.”

“Gar, why don’t you head out in a shuttle and intercept it. Try to make contact with it,” Director Nova sat back down. “I’ll make some calls and bring in reinforcements just in case.”

“As you wish, sir,” Gar said and departed the command area.

“Robot 3282, try all standard frequencies to see if we can make contact with it in the meantime,” Director Nova settled back into his chair and started to scan through Advisor Vaughan’s data packet. “We also have the communication protocols for the original mission the Mercurial was on when it disappeared. Use those as well.”

Affirmative, Director Nova.”

“Advisor Vaughan, we will keep you updated on what we find,” Director Nova said to the large monitor. “Thank you for bringing the situation to our attention.”

Thank you, Director,” she said with a wide smile of gratitude. “I will pray for good fortune for us all while we wait.”

The screen went dark as she disconnected. Within seconds, a shuttle departed the opening of the shuttle bay and zipped away from the space station.

“Now, I suppose we wait.” Agent Justin stepped up to flank Nova’s command chair.

“Now we wait,” Director Nova replied coolly.

******

Why was there so much darkness in every direction? Absolute zero temperatures caressed skin than had not felt cold for… how long had it been?

Days?

Months?

Centuries?

Hands stretched out before them. Hands connected to wrists connected to arms to shoulders, moving as willed to move. Hands exposed to the unforgiving vacuum between planetary bodies. Hands that should be frozen and dead, but yet moved. Moved and felt no pain. There should be pain.

Shouldn’t there?

Why wasn’t there?

This wasn’t right. Answers were needed. Where could answers be found?

Unidentified traveler. This is the BADGE Orbital Space Station. Are you receiving this message?”

A voice. Motion immediately stopped.  Circling around, no other being was visible. Where did the voice come from? Sound doesn’t travel in space. But they heard a sound.

Should they reply?

Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. There was agreement. There was also silence.

Agreement between whom? There was only one being present.

Too many questions. Too many voices… Home was needed. Answers could be found at home.

Must get home.

Eyes swept across the nothingness of space, searching for the path. Movement in the distance. Several large masses moved in deliberate patterns, circling the center.

Three. The third option was the destination. The third pattern was significant.

They returned to motion, hurling toward… toward…

Home???

Thanksgiving Fan-Fiction "Revenge of the Birds"

Revenge of the Birds
by Starmaster
#14716

“It’s been a difficult year for heroes,” Starmaster said as he stood before the gathered members of the Star Force, Star Force Junior League, and L.U.S.H. (Legion of Unusual Superheroes), as well as other individuals, such as Crossroads, Krystal Fae, and several others who were considered friends. Those who couldn’t attend in person were represented by holographic images of them in various seats in the infrequently used planetarium theater of the Star Force Observatory, the leagues headquarters in New Amsterdam. “We have a lot of trust to rebuild with the people of the world.”

“That ain’t all our fault,” Wyldfyre said from his seat in the front row. “If those schmucks with the World Corps hadn’t been such a-ho—,” Wyldfyre held threw his hands up in apology, clearly having received a telepathic reminder from Starmaster about his language,”—sorry, such portals of bodily excrement, all these people would still be throwing their bras and panties at us when we walked by.”

“Colorful as always.” Starmaster shook his head at his friend from the platform he spoke from. “While not every citizen is quite that enamored with BADGE and the rest of the leagues who work with them, they used to have a fair bit more faith in us. All the times we had to abandon them with the kidnapped augments who acted as if they were military police in a war zone had eroded some of that faith. We did what we had to in order to survive, but that doesn’t mean it didn’t come at a price.”

A murmur of conversation broke out in different sections of the room, heroes sharing how their interactions with the common man had changed in recent days. Chained Angel stood up from her seat, her white wings bright in the dimly lit room, as if they were radiating their own light. “It isn’t just with us as heroes. People have lost hope and become more isolated with their families and neighbors. Communities are having a very difficult time bringing back a sense of identity, falling apart into everyone being either ‘us’ or ‘them’.”

Many of those in the room nodded in agreement to her assessment. Fear and suspicion were rampant across the areas the heroes patrolled. What could once have been easily solved problems by people coming together now had become festering wounds that only seemed to inspire bickering. Solutions weren’t sought, but confrontations focused on who was wrong and how they should be punished.

“So, what do we do?” Madam Marvelous asked. As everyone’s eyes turned to her, she grew smaller. Not from using her shapeshifting powers, but due to her apparent effort to sink into her own chair for regret of speaking.

“I wish there was some one thing we could do, but there isn’t. There isn’t one thing anyone can do to make it better.” Starmaster said as he shrugged.

The attention returned to him, accompanied by a stunned silence. Heroes never admitted defeat like that, or they shouldn’t.

“Well, if there isn’t anything we can do, I say let’s get out of here and have some fun,” Major Malicious Mischief said. She clapped her hands together loudly as she stood up. “Who else wants to get wasted?”

Wyldfyre half-stood up from his seat. “Now that sounds like a plan.”

“I didn’t say that we couldn’t do something,” Starmaster said as he waved for both of them to take their seats. “There isn’t ONE thing we can do, in my opinion. There are many things we have to do if this is going to get better. First, we need to reinstall one of the most important habits people need in their daily lives. To begin, I’d like to thank all of you for joining me and taking part in this conversation today.”

“You’re… welcome?” Catalyst said.

Starmaster chuckled and took a moment to turn and survey everyone gathered. “It is that simple, people. Be thankful for the people in your circles. Be thankful and let them know how you appreciate them. It is far to easy to take people for granted these days. Tell someone how much they impact your life and be welcoming when they share their appreciation of you. Sometimes how to take a compliment is a forgotten art.”

“And it’s that simple, is it,” Wyldfyre said with a smirk. “Be a cheerleader and save the world. Anyone else want to get their kumbaya’s out?”

“If people would let it be,” Starmaster shrugged to his oldest friend. “Yes. There is a time to be adversarial, and when we are called to fight, as heroes we do, but doesn’t it make sense that we need to be as mindful for moments where we have to show respect and courtesy to others as well. Recent events have taught us to look for the bad to be suspicious. Do we pay as much attention to what is right and good in life, or is it overlooked?”

Way-Ohh. Way-Ohh. Way-Ohh. The HQ alarm sounded from every hallway in the building.

“OMG, who else was hoping for evil to strike to get us out of here? Hands?” Kyrie E. Laser said as her camera drones launched from her shoulder mounts. “I’m all for a moving speech, but as the director always says ‘action scenes fill the seats better than nappy monologs’”

The planetarium projector lenses swiveled as a holographic image of Director Nova appeared in the air above Starmaster. “Heroes in New Amsterdam. We have had a sighting of a powerful threat attacking the Save-More warehouses. A foul necromancer is attacking it. Here is surveillance of the scene from our remote helicopter.

Chase leaned into view, whispering to Director Nova. His face turned sour and cut away as an ariel view of New Amsterdam’s largest commercial cold-storage warehouse came into focus. Employees ran out of the building, some bloodied from gashes torn through their work uniforms. A man in a hardhat stumbled into view, shouting at the top of his lungs. “It’s horrible. It’s Cincinnati all over again.

Let me correct my previous report. It isn’t a foul necromancer. It is Fowl Necromancer,” Director Nova’s voice said over the displayed zone of attack. “Where do they get these names?

Out of the open doors, still wrapped in plastic wrappings, frozen turkeys and chickens marched out into the loading dock. Tiny red cooking timers popped out of several breasts and struck the fleeing employees in their backs while others manned modified oil drums with oil frying vats, launching whole frozen birds like missiles at the parked cars.

You guys can handle this one. I’ll distract Chaz Hamilton and keep him from reporting on this. We don’t need another WKRP fiasco. Nova out.

The holographic camera went out and the room of heroes shared disgusted, amused, and utterly baffled glances until Wyldfyre sat back down. “Let the other leagues handle this one. I say we sit this one out and have lunch instead. When you’re done lecturing, of course.”

Happy Thanksgiving, Heroes Rising.

(If you have time, do consider saying thank you to your league mates, the game developers, artists, and other employees and let them know you appreciate their efforts. A little good will goes a long way.)

Fan-fiction Contest November - Open - Visionary's Story Part II

"How are you certain your visions aren't of a future? With all the stories of time travel going on, it's not impossible that what you're seeing hasn't come to pass..." offered the psychologist. He and three others sat at different distances from Elijah, who was reclining on a faux-leather sofa and not feeling as comfortable as he would have liked.

Elijah replied, "No... I feel like I've already gone through this. How could this be something yet to come?"

Adjusting his glasses, the psychologist calmly said, "It is possible you've gone through this, but was sent to the past. We will need to do some more observations."

Rapidly getting to his feet, Elijah held back his frustration. "No! I am tired. Scans and probes, scans and probes. I already told the last set of people. If I'm living in the past, then take the information you have and do what you will, but I just want to go home." He stomped towards the door, but one of the other 'observers' moved to block his path. She held her arms out, but smiled softly.

"Just one thing, and we'll let you leave. Please?" she said quietly, her eyes seeming to grow larger with every word. Elijah's words of protest froze before they left his mouth, as his gaze was fully on the woman. Was he beguiled? He wasn't quite sure, but he nodded slowly.

She touched his shoulder, and Elijah's body nearly collapsed. "All I ask is that you carefully describe one of your visions. We have records of what you claimed to see, but we now have with us someone who can sketch your thoughts. Leave no trace. Give us a way to map your vision."

Still breathless, he walked back to the sofa. The woman sat next to him, then motioned to the psychologist. He pressed a button on a pad on the desk. After a few seconds, another man walked in, hair wild and untamed and dressed in a spectacularly-coloured outfit that shimmered and shone in the well-lit room. A BADGE agent followed, carrying what appeared to be an art easel, but with transparent paper. Elijah curiously looked at the wild-haired gentleman, then back to the woman.

She touched his forehead and Elijah felt faint.

"Nothing to fear, I promise. We are going to see exactly what you see. Now,... show us your vision. The one of battle and who exactly were your allies and adversaries. And where, if on this planet or another, it took place. Spare no detail."

Elijah's eyes closed. He could see everything. It was clear as the first time he saw it. He talked. As requested, no detail was spared. After two hours, he was finished,... and so was the mysterious sketch artist.

Everybody looked at the easel with amazement.

"What do you think?" asked the psychologist to the woman. "Do we escalate?"

Rising to her feet, the woman nodded and even Elijah snapped out of his trance. "Yes, the Director will want to be aware of this finding."

November FANFICTION: Joan of Arc

ID: 35981

Joan was back and no time had passed since I left. “Are sure you don’t want one?” Danny asked from next to the hotdog vendor. “You know I’ll try one plane.” “That’s the spirit.” “One plane hotdog too.” We walked back to the police car. “Let’s head out to Harlem where the last kidnapping was, let’s see the apartment on West 115th street.” “Hopefully we get to the bottom of this quickly nothing I hate more are sickos who kidnap and hurt kids.” “I agree,” Joan said with a nod. “Okay, we are here. We parked on the side of the road and got out. “The apartment number is 201 it’s on the second floor.” We stepped up through a door and proceeded directly up the stairs. “I’ll take point on the questions you while you take notes in this notepad.” He handed me a small notepad with a pen. “Okay, here we go.” He walked up to the door and knocked on the door.” A woman and man answered the door. Oh, your detective that was coming asking was coming help ask questions about our missing son.” She said tears in her eyes. The man stepped forward and put his arms around her. “Do you have any leads yet?” He asked. “No, not yet that’s why here I’m to get some information on what happened leading up to the kidnapping.” “I’m detective Reagan.” As he took out his badge to show them. “And this Joan my partner, she will be taking notes.” “Okay, Mr. and Mrs. Smith tell me from the beginning what he did that day.” We all Sat down in the living room and I took out the pencil and notebook. “The day started like most days we called Matthew down to eat breakfast and afterward he watched his morning cartoons and ate lunch. “Said, Mrs. Smith. “Did he go anywhere that day?” He went downstairs to go play with a friend on the Xbox.” “Okay anywhere else?” Danny asked. He went down the street to play with some friends and asked for some money to get some ice cream.” She said. “The last we saw him.” He said while struggling to hold back his tears. “Please find my boy…please!” Just then a noise came from Danny’s pocket “This is dispatch missing child possible kidnapping at East drive near the Central Park Pool all units in the vicinity please respond.” “That’s us, Joan.” He said. “You got that all down.” “Yes, I do.” “Good.” “Okay, I’ll call you if I have any more questions, here’s my card if you have any more information.” “Thank you, detective please find our boy.” They both said while hugging each other.” “We will get your son back,” Joan said. We stepped out the door closing behind us. “I hope your right I don’t want to give them false hope.” Said Danny. “All one has is hope in these situations is hope.” “True,” Danny said as headed out the door. +

+

We quickly got in the car. Danny began driving the car like a madman. He yelled,” Hang on.” He turned on the siren and speed up even faster. I soon saw a bunch of trees coming into view. He said,” we are almost there.” We parked in the middle of the street and got out. There was a big crowd of people gathered outside the pool. Soon other cop cars pulled up. We saw a woman screaming on the phone. “I can’t find my Ashley she is gone, where is Sara she was supposed with her!” Danny and I stepped up to the frantic woman. “My name is detective Reagan this is my partner, let me ask you few questions.” “Please help find my daughters I don’t where they are.” “My husband is on the way to pick the kids and me up from their swimming lesson.” “Did kids go anywhere?” I asked. Just then a little girl came running up,” Mommy Mommy help I can’t find Ashley.” Danny looked in relief at the little girl. “What were doing with your sister before you lost her.” We were going to get ice cream from the ice cream truck, I told Ashley I had to go to potty and when I came back she was gone.” She said with loud cries. Danny took his radio and called out,” start sealing the area off so no one leaves and call mounted police to start searching the whole park hurry!” Who taking these kids he said.” Just then heard the faint sound of music playing. “What is that noise,” I asked. “It’s just an Ice cream truck,” Danny said. “Wait that’s it.” As I took out notes from before. “What you mean it enlighten me.” Matthew was going for Ice cream before he went missing. Danny got on the radio and yelled the alleged perp is driving an Ice cream truck.” I said they never catch the driver in time. Just then I saw a mounted cop on horseback. I pulled off and got on and began racing toward where the sound had been coming from. I heard Danny yelling,” I’m right behind you,” as he darted toward his car. I finally saw the truck come into view. I took out my bow and aimed at the back tire. It was a hit the truck began to lose control. I was catching up I aimed at one of the front tires. Direct hit again. The truck began slowing down drastically. I rode in front of the truck and stopped right directly in front of the truck, bow drawn and aimed at the driver. The truck came to a stop. Just then heard sirens behind the truck. Danny came running up to the truck gun drawn. He yelled, GET OUT OF THE CARE NOW HANDS UP WHERE I CAN SEE THEM!!” A young man with tattoos all over his face got of the truck. “Joan go check the truck for the girl.” I jumped off the horse and ran to the truck throwing open the door and sure enough, there was a girl tied up in the back. I untied the girl and picked her up and helped her out of the truck. Just in time to see Danny drag the kidnapper away in cuffs. “Luckily, we found the girl but we still need to find the other missing children.” “Yes, this isn’t over we need to get information out of him about the other missing kids.” To be continued

R.A.I.D. Fan-Fiction -- "Holo-Pursuits Chapter One"

by Madam Marvelous
#26130

Chapter One - "Frankie and the Upgrades"

"OK, cadets, good job," Chained Angel said as the doors to the R.A.I.D. (Regulated Augmented Instructional Department) simulator closed. "We still have some work to do, but you are coming along well in your training."

I couldn't help but smile at her praise. Getting some positive coaching after combat training felt good, and fighting in a holographic environment against a computer generated foe was much less painful than my league war training sessions with my mentor, Midgardsormr. His technique was brutally straightforward. Learn to fight by surviving someone trying to literally kill you. Effective, but if it weren't for the medical staff aboard the BADGE Stellar Arena, I don't know if I'd still be alive today.

"Thanks for getting us scheduled," Prysmatica said as she wiped her face with towel. The session had been grueling, several hours long. Many other leagues completed it faster than we did on average, which was slightly embarrassing but we were slowly improving. "Do you have the time for our next go set up?"

"Actually, I do. There was an opening tomorrow at 8a.m.," Chained Angel said. "As it is Saturday, I figured we could squeeze it in to get ready for the new event Director Nova has for us next week."

I think our explosive groans and eye-rolls might have offset the station's rotational balance a bit. Training is all well and good, but so were days off.

"What have you been smoking?" Wyldfyre said sharply. "We've been going non-stop since Agent Justin came up with the idea. I need some me time. Me time that includes none of you all being around."

Chained Angel shoved her palm outward between them and turned her head away, the universal gesture for 3THCTFDC (Talk to the hand cause the face don't care). "We've only been able to attempt the first of the simulations. There is a whole other program for advanced fighting, but if you're to weak to face it..."

"Yeah, yeah, yeah." Wyldfyre crafted a dog-sized dragon out of a fire he generated with the wave of a hand. It walked over to the simulator doors as a new team of 5th Precinct leaguemembers walked through and the construct proceeded raise its leg and urinate flame at their feet. "I'll be there, just to show the rest of you losers how to get it done."

"I'll be there," I said as I ignored Wyldfyre's latest antics. As I caught a reflection of myself in my Madam Marvelous persona in a window to the outside of the space station, I reveled in the view beyond the enhanced transparent aluminum pane of glass. The darkness of space never ceased to amaze me when I looked into it. As a shapeshifter, I could turn into diminutive insects, but no matter how tiny I could become, looking out at the endless void of the universe made me feel so much smaller. "I've got to get going, though. Anyone else want to head to New Amsterdam with me on the shuttle?"

"I can take you," Catalyst said. "I'm heading to our HQ."

"Can I join?" Prysmatica asked. "I have to meet Chaz in a few hours for a dat--"

A collective "OOOHHHHH" resounded from our group, one I participated in, and one that brought a rosy blush to Prysmatica's cheeks. "Come on. What are you guys, in high school still?"

I restrained from raising my hand despite her being correct. Yes, I was in tenth grade, but that secret didn't need to be shared. As superheroes, or capes as most called us, a degree of secrecy to our private identities was shared by each member of our group. "I don't mind."

"Let's go, then," Calalyst said. He, Prysmatica, Infinite Tempest, and I all departed the waiting area to the simulator and headed to the docking bay on our way back home.

MMMMMMMM

A wall of electronic equipment hummed with the buzz of thousands of bees within its components. The notorious villain known as Gamer G plugged wires into various outlets, each time the noise shifting in frequency, escalating in pitch in a climbing musical disharmony. Red wire to black port. Blue wire to yellow. He pulled and switched connections like a conductor creating a maddening symphony while he himself chuckled maniacally alongside the cacophony.

Flipping a switch, Gamer G stepped back as the sounds rose to a frequency the human ear could not detect, blanketing the room in silence. "Achievement unlocked. You've officially leveled up. Can you feel it?"

On the other side of the room, a dark figure laid upon a metal table. Several cables from the wall of electronics ran into its neck, chest, and head. It sat up and light gleamed from bare panels of metal visible beneath patches of dark brown fur. "...yesss...Master... I am ready to serve you. I obey."

"With the addition of these Xandraxi parts I was able to smuggle out of Free Detroit, you are deadlier than ever, Frankie," Gamer G said gleefully as he rubbed his hands together with exuberance. "I've even managed to replace your arm that those zero heroes stole from you. Feel free to DIS-arm any who get in your way on your mission with the same Dis-regard, my prec... my creation of deadly death. You will be such a surprise for them, I almost want to save you to give them for Christmas, but I need that reporter out of my hair. He's trying to open up an investigation into my rebranding of Super Duper Games."

"What is my mission?" Frankie asked.

"Why, kill Chaz Hamilton, of course."

Looking for Friends??? Chained Angel is here to help...

How have you been doing using the new R.A.I.D. system so far? Have you gotten all your moves down for defeating the Abominable Yetti or <yawn>Skelanimal yet again?

He is my now my nomination for official BADGE whipping boy. Having an actual angel sharing my body, I have inside information on what Skelanimal was responsible for in his previous life, so don't ever doubt he deserves every bit of the whooping he gets, even if it is currently only in holographic form. Sources say he actually enjoys being ganged up on by multiple heroes, making him feel "warm and tingly all-over".

The Yetti has not commented as of yet, but its lawyers are in communications with the ASPCA.

Now to the topic at hand. Not many heroes have requested my services as friend-maker so far. I'm not surprised, to be honest. Heroes are fiercely independent and frequently try to solve every problem themselves. So since the heroes won't come to me, this time, I will go out to them and bolster their efforts.

First off, Ultra Instinct of the Fortress of Solitude, ID#11224, has been requesting connections with others. Based on his BADGE bio, he is an alien who suggests having relations with several other heroes mothers in the past. Being an immortal being now, he has given up on the role of being a righteous hero and now plays by his own rules. He spends most of his days avoiding paternity suits and unlocking new powers. If he is the kind of friend you've always dreamed of having, contact him at your own risk.

Next, Grim Payne of the Aussie Freaks, ID 25875, has indicated a need for more friends. They didn't say much in their request, so all I can say it they may or may not be from the land down under. Photos show slender figure with a mask and robotic arms and legs. Were they horribly mauled in a fight against a rabid koala? Mangled boxing a kangaroo? Upgraded by ACME? If you want to know the answers, you're going to have to contact them for yourself.

If you are looking for the perfect combination of social justice and high-fashion, Glamazon, ID 35646, may be the caped contender you are looking for. Heroine by day, drag performer by night, then heroine once again after the bars close, they plan to show the world their charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talents. They aren't afraid to work it for $20 tips or cleaning up the streets.

Who says you can't superhero while wearing that perfect tiny black dress and looking gorge while doing it.

Another relatively new hero looking for friends is ID 36096, Remedies. A pet lover with a black wolf companion, this hero is another shy one, hiding their face behind a mask. Are you and experienced hero looking for a young hopeful to mentor in the way of the hero? If so, contact Remedies and get the cure for whatever is holding you back from using maximum power (cards).

Finally, I did receive on letter from an individual currently held in Purgatory Prison. He is lonely and looking for friends for lunch. Yes, we've all locked him up at some point in our careers. It's Bob.

Thanksgiving is coming up soon, but don't forget to be ready for a big fight during Chaos Wars. Team-ups should be listed this weekend, so get those Turkey Dinners and hit those patrols.

November Fanfiction ST Michael Continued

ID: 14267

It was nice taking break with festivities but time go after the root that was said to have unique disease fighting qualities. But where to start not to go on except it was located somewhere deep in the amazon. All sudden dark mist appeared there was Azrael creepy as ever. “The little mail boy Gabriel sent a message for you since couldn’t find you.” “He really needs to work on his timing I was just about ready finish my appointment when the imbecile interrupted me nearly making miss my appointment.” “But I digress he said to meet a medicine man in the jungle who goes by the name El Sanador Del Bosque.” That translates to the forest healer not much go on no real name.” “Where do I find him.” I asked. “He didn’t give much of location he said he lives in a hut just offshore of the Amazon River in remote location far away from any village or town.” “I guess fly over the amazon rive scan area and see if I can locate him.” “Well off you then I have another appointment to get to, stay safe.”

Well, I was off southward toward the amazon river. I flew for miles and miles through desert and jungle when I finally came to northern mouth of the amazon river. I scanned river and surrounding area nothing but jungle and with an occasional remote village and small town. I traveled onward I saw a Mission I stopped there maybe someone there knows where this forest healer is located. I lifted the dimensional veil that cloaked me from the humans. I don’t like doing this can lead to a lot unwanted attention from people. “Excuse me Father do you know where I can find El Sanador Del Bosque.” “Oh, my oh my its… its. San Miguel.” “It is an honor to meet angel of God in person let alone San Miguel.” I’m sorry I’m sorry I didn’t answer your question.” “Si yes I know of him he lives down river little further in a hut surrounded by a vast herbal garden.” “Thank you, Father.” I put on the veil and traveled further down river. I came to man in canoe near tree. What is that man doing. I thought to myself when all a sudden the man’s canoe tipped. I quickly flew over and to see if the man was ok. He began yelling out. “Help you there help!” There was know one else around odd and how can he see me. I nearly grabbed when he went under. I dove in the water. The man was tangled in weeds. I swam down to his feet and took out my sword and started cutting the weeds. Just then a large school of menacing piranha was swimming closer. Got it he was loose of the vines. I quickly grabbed him around waist and kicked quickly swam upward. Finally on surface with my foot I kicked the canoe right side up. I placed man in the canoe and began doing chest compressions. Just then the man began to cough and breath heavily. “Sir … Sir are you alright, how you doing!” with deep breath the man replied. “I am alright gracias gracias, thank you.” “What we’re you doing you nearly drowned and I like to know how are you able to see me.” “If you must know I was gathering bark from that tree there.” “I almost got some.” “I tell you what, I said,” Ill do it. I flew over to tree chipping the bark off the tree with my sword. “That is enough don’t want harm the tree.” I handed him bark. “You didn’t answer my question.” No time no time late I get back home soon. I handed saw the man off down river. I began fly down river again. When came to small clearing with a hut a big garden. “There it is” I said to myself. When said that I heard a loud scream from behind. The man I saved in his canoe was surrounded crocodiles. I flew over quickly. The man screamed “Great winged Guardian help me help!” I grabbed him just as his canoe chumped to bit. I flew him to clearing and put him down. “Gracias again great guardian.” “You alright I’ve saved you twice now.” “Si you have, how can I ever repay you.” Well, you can answer some of my questions.” “Firstly, how are you able to see me.” I was born with the sight.” People and town and village drove me away when I told them what I saw.” He took deep breath. “That why I live alone.” “I see.” I said. “that answers that why did you call me Great Winged Guardian.” “I was told by a voice in a dream a great wing guardian will save you and you will help with important task.” “I see if that’s case do you know where El Sanador Del Bosque is, I’m assuming he lives here.” “I am he you seek I prefer to be called Benah.” “Wow your him do you know where I can find a glowing root, I was tasked to search for it.””Si I do know where you can find it, follow there behind my hut,” he pointed. “Follow it until you come to a waterfall, on top the waterfall a there will be tree, you can’t miss it, you picked the better time to look for it.” “It glows at night at the base of the tree you would never find it during day.” Thank you for your help.” “Make sure you bring it back here I will have rest of the ingredients mix to finish the medicine.” Ok will do. I grabbed a torch headed up the path. The jungle was pitch back with exception of what little light my torch shown. Sounds of frogs and crickets birds filled the night air. I pressed on. I finally came to the lake with the waterfall. I gazed and looked up at the base of the tree there it was glowing bright as day at the base of the tree. As I was gazing up, I heard loud growl from bushes. All of a sudden jaguar leaped out. I yelled “begone you miserable feline. I waved my torch and sword at him. I smacked in rear with my sword. It ran off and in hurry into the jungle. “Now let’s get this done been a long day.” I flew to top. I bent down took out my knife sword picked at a root. “Finally.” I made my back to Benah. I touched down near the hut. Benah came out just finished crushing and boiling the ingredients, come in.” I handed him the root. He threw it in pot and stirred it in and suddenly the mixture began glow white, Benah poured it in a glass vial. “Its finished. “Benah said. “Thank you.” “Your friend just across the river by the way. I looked across sure enough there he was Raphael waiting patiently. I flew across with the vial in hand. “Here you go.” I said. “Thank you, I hope it wasn’t to much trouble getting.” I laughed. “Trouble, you have no idea.” “What ever the trouble I am very grateful for your instance. I nodded. “Come by my fire and rest.” “Sounds wonderful.” To Be Continued….

Gear Talk With Fuma Hanzo

Toon ID: 10950

What a month it's been already for gear, and we're only 2 days in!!!!

Let's recap. If we include last month, a few new Shuffle pieces have entered the arena, as well as a new Sidekick given in raids and as a special award for Trick or Treat Hosts that gave generously. Let's take a look at those 1st, starting with the new SK.

Pumpkin Lord

I'll be honest. Competitively, it isn't an uber piece of gear. It's ok but certainly not a must have. Only a few players got it from the raids. Most that did acquire it got it as a reward for treat gifting during the Trick or Treat event. Let's be real. Most of those guys have better Sidekicks, or at least can afford them. Now, despite not being a Sidekick I would use during serious competitive play, I still had to have it because I'm probably HR's biggest Halloween fan, and it's a pumpkin. One of my Halloween personas is a Jack-o-lantern Lich. But for those who are short on Sidekicks, it's not a bad one either. It's better than most of the SKs one gets from the 50 day login, with Orcus possibly being the one exception. It is also superior to most of the other Sidekicks acquired through AMA or Raids, with Fides and Crimson edging him out only because of their Poison effects. The only other 2 SKs that I can say are better would be E.B. and Werewolf, both of which could be argued to the contrary. Which brings us to our next piece.

Werewolf

I have to say this is definitely one of the best Sidekicks to hit the game. And it is easily accessible to everyone. With a hefty amount of Plus damage, and a healthy dose of Stun and Block Redux, this SK is the gift that keeps on giving. I wouldn't be opposed to filling every SK slot with just multiples of this guy.

OB-1

Another SK to hit the game last month was OB-1. This guy will find more value in limited deck events like Duels, thanks to his +1000 Att. But even outside of short deck events, this SK packs a punch with 20 damage, and keeps your toon healthy longer with his Regeneration abilities. This SK will serve lower levels better than higher level players, but is still great in any toon's arsenal, especially in multiples.

Tribal Goblin

One last SK to hit the arena this past month was Tribal Goblin. With only 5 stun really going for him, he won't be that useful in unlimited deck fights. However, his 3500 Def will help out very low level toons and provide hard to come by Def stats to any toon for limited deck events. Honestly, unless you just don't have anything else to go for, or are building specifically for Duels, I would avoid this 50 Day reward in favor of others. If you need a SK, take a look at Orcus. In my opinion, Orcus is the best SK from the 50 Day Login rewards.

Grimdark Walkers

These boots are found in the Shuffle. I will do a separate article on the Shuffle, but for now wanted to draw special attention to this piece of gear. With a drop rate of 0.5%, this will not be a common piece, nor will it be easy to get. But if you can, I suggest you do. This is truly an epic piece of gear. It is one of two pieces of gear that should have everyone excited, with the other being the new Raid core we'll be discussing a little later. It provides 4 stats, 2 of which are in phenomenal quantities. With 18% Move and 12 Poison, that alone is enough for me to want it on my toon. But on top of that, it also has Block Steal and a little bit of Life. Honestly, if this were a LWs prize, I would be tripping the Mayor in front of Grizzly Bears to get it.

Frozen Gauntlets

Found alongside Jack's Icy Gaze, the Frozen Gauntlets are found in the Abominable Yetti Raid. These arms offer Move Redux. That means every time that effect goes off, it gets easier to hit your opponent next time. With a healthy dose of Plus Damage and Aura Damage, this arm is always hitting hard, even when it isn't hitting.

Bone Claws

Found in the Skelanimal Raid, these are great for the free or budget player, and even some niche builds. It certainly isn't a bad piece. It gives a nice bit of Plus Damage and 2x Damage, as well as adds % Def, which scales up as your stats do. So this piece is good at any level.

Bone Bound Chest

We don't get a lot of choices when it comes to cores, so we usually take what we can get. But this is no mere filler piece. Found in the Skelanimal Raid, this is, without a doubt in my mind, THE best core in the game. It breaks away from traditional resistance, only resisting Physical, and only for 20, but holy cow are its other stats are sick. At 18% Block Steal, this can quickly turn a fight around by flipping the script on your opponent when it comes to stats. Furthermore, the 12 Poison is HUGE. Coupled with the Grimdark Walkers mentioned earlier, and now you're running 1 in 4 odds of poisoning your opponent, each hit. And once they're poisoned, unless they have the proper counter measures, they have 10 steps to figure out how to beat you or they're dead. Even alcoholics get 12 steps.

AMA Scrapyard

Another big addition this past month was the switching out of AMA gear with a fresh new set. I have to say, I'm really impressed with this batch of AMA options. Aside from gear and a new card, Raid Tokens can also be found there. Now, before we move on, AMA gear will rarely make it into a pay player's arsenal. So my value for them diminishes greatly from other sources of gear. Still, there are some nice pieces in there, and for some of you, they may be your best options. That said, you might find more value in these than I do. Let's take a look, shall we? Just remember, I am measuring all gear against all other gear. So MP gear will usually always get a better critique, while "free" gear will ofen get a worse one.

Lives Counter

Poison has long been considered OP, especially against toons that put a lot of skill points and gear into Life. For a long time, there has been little in the way of countermeasures. The Lives Counter fills this role on a budget by providing an MP free option to resist Poison. It is further made valuable for high life toons, those most prone to have poison used against them, by adding 4% Life, a stat that only continues to improve as a toon's base Life stat improves.

Obsidian Ring

The Obsidian Ring brings a new option to Stun Resist. Previously only found in 3 head gear, 1 crystal core, and 1 Mission/Patrol leg, having one in the very versatile position of a ring slot brings more versatility to your builds. The resist is only 8, but you have 10 ring slots to work with at current max limits. Add in the +4 Regeneration and this isn't a bad ring to fill out one's Stun Resist needs. This ring also plays well in limited deck events thanks to the 1000 Def it provides.

Keradon

This Sidekick is 1 of 3 in the AMA store right now. It does provide constant residual damage in the form of 7 Tech Aura. To be completely honest, this is a budget player's SK. I would get it only because I had extra AMA and needed to fill a Sidekick slot. The 2X Dam is nice, but imo, if one wishes to include X Damage, they should focus on 3X. 2X Damage should only play a part as extra insurance that some kind of damage multiplier will go off if the 3X fails. It still might make for good use among lower level players that can more easily accumulate useful quantities of 2X damage than they can 3X, but imo I would go after the 50 Day Login Orcus before I went after this one.

Red Ant

The only thing that maes me turn my eye to this SK at all is that it is Mental, and as far as today goes, the Mental SKs are few and far between. The initiative is negligible. It does decent damage, but unless you just need a Mental SK, there are plenty of better options.

Shocklite

While I am a fan of 3X Damage, at a mere 2% proc rate, it doesn't do much to move the likelihood of your 3X going off. Even if you put 5 of them on, that's still only 10%. That's a lot of space for 10% 3X Damage. It does add an additional, but minor Plus Damage of 6, but even that doesn't help make this much better.

Chainmail Kilt

For a non MP piece of gear, this really isn't that bad. It does have some good use, just not in lieu of other options. The combined Initiative and Disrupt Aura do give it value, despite the Move modifier being fairly low. Being a blanket Aura resist, it has broad value, usable against more opponents than specific Aura type resists. I think this piece can find use in any player's arsenal.

Coil Helm

For a "free" gear, this one certainly is nice. It packs a solid amount of Plus Damage for a "free" piece. Add in some decent Def Redux and this piece is really effective for the cost. Alot of MP monsters will pass this one up, but if you're not one of those, I suggest adding this to your arsenal. Not a premier piece, but definitely has value in niche uses.

Silver Hook

ARRRRRRR!!!! You know a former Pirate King is going to love anything to do with Pirates. But even if it was the Wristwatch of Mr. Magoo, I'd still like this arm. This arm provides a healthy dose of Def Redux AND a healthy dose of 3X Damage. That alone has me looking at Justin and crew with the thought they had me and my build style in mind when they created it. Add in a little Plus Damage and this gear is over the top. I can definitely see it being a staple in many player's builds, mine included.

Steal Greaves

This piece is missing a staple in legs, Movement. But what it's lacking, it makes up for in a very high Def modifier, and phenomenal Mental resist for a "free" piece. I won't say I would put it in regular use, but against specific opponents, that high a Mental resist could come in handy in a leg slot. I will likely add a few of them to my arsenal, just in case an opponent with heavy Mental Damage gets a little too hard to beat. I do think this one should be in everyone's arsenal if they can afford it, but only as an option and only after they have acquired those gear pieces they will be using regularly. This is a niche piece, but a good one.

Well, I hope this Gear Talk has been useful to you. I will discuss the Shuffle further next week. Till then, keep grinding!

Chained Angel's Heavenly Hero Bonds

Hello Hero Rising Heroes.

As a hero, I'm known as Chained Angel, fierce protector of the citizens of our world.

There is more to me than just my hero persona, though.

I seek to help bring heroes together, putting them in contact with others in mutually beneficial unions. The nature of heroics make it unpredictable and difficult to connect with others, except for while punching villains and their minions in the face.

I'm talking about the lasting, beneficial bonds of friendship that help fuel the soul.
It's time to reach out and touch someone.

First, I'd like to introduce you to a up-and-coming hero, even though he is several centuries old. Recently uncovered in a caged grave outside of New Amsterdam, Morphon exposure has given his skills in the dark arts a energizing boost. This is Unearthly Mitch the Lich.

He likes to play billiards, fence, and summon underlings from the beyond to serve him as he battles evil in our world. His ideal friend would be someone who likes to raid, enact vengeance on the unjust, and sometimes simply sit in the parlor while listening to acoustic chamber music featuring the harpsicord.

If you would like to get to know him better, his ID is 23545 and he is looking forward to meeting any living being who doesn't serve the Great Old Ones. He is happy to accept your teammate request.

If you are looking for other heroes to stand by your side, have a coffee or glass of wine with, send me a brief description of yourself, what you are looking for, and an image and I will get the word out there through the Sentinel and hopefully have you hooked up soon with an overflowing list of friends and companions.

Have a blessed day and don't forget to use protection both on and off the battlefield.

Chained Angel
ID: 20570 I like new friends, too, so don't be bashful about pressing my button if you like.

(Disclaimer: not responsible for anything beyond the introduction of heroes to other heroes. no verification process offered to insure profiles are correct, honest, or downright misleading. the only criteria is the profile is mildly informative, amusing and includes requested information. Any button-pressing between heroes accepting and declining friend requests is consensual, unless your device has been stolen and someone else did it for you or hacked your laptop.)

R.A.I.D. Simulator: The New Big Thing

Like kids to an arcade when a new video game came out back in the 80's, heroes now rush to the BADGE orbital platform to train in the new R.A.I.D. training simulator. Excitement is rampant as each hero hopes to take part in defeating one of the two newly offered holo-villains to defeat. Will this training be beneficial? To some, yes. To others, a little bit, and to a few it will be an exercise in futility.

How can players best make use of the new opportunity?

First, it depends on being aware of new options available to players. If you know your goals, resources, build, and resources, it is possible to improve your odds of maximizing your benefits.

  • Equipped Gear: Each foe has specific weaknesses/resistances. When fighting, use appropriate gear choices that give bonuses to damage based on your core. Stick with items that give specific damage bonuses over burn, poison, or aura damages, as they (at this point) aren't as favorable in your efforts. Gear that provides defense and health boosts are also unneeded, as damage isn't being done to heroes by the foe. It is all about the damage you can inflict. Xdamage multipliers do work, so make use of them if possible for some big pops of damage.
  • Be stocked in consumables. The daily maximum of More-Fun Bars has jumped from 14 to 16 uses per day which adds some additional attacks. There is also a consumable purchasable at the bottom of the GIFTS tab call Liquid Learning. It comes in different strengths, based on your purchase choice, but it can be used to improve XP gains, should that be your preferred route while raiding.
  • There are multiple routes for playing, so understanding how RAIDing will impact your style is going to help determine your strategy. If you just want to play and get what you get, that is an option. If you are fast leveling or playing an energy alt character(one that puts a good amount of skill points into energy when they level), RAIDing is a very useful opportunity. If controlling your leveling speed to control your gains is your preference, you may want to look at the cost/benefit margin before participating. The current style of play that benefits from the RAID structure is a character that can deal out substantial damage in the hits they inflict, moderate damage in a high volume of hits, or substantial damage in a high volume of hits.
  • Look at your power cards and if possible, bulk up on ATTACK cards to give you extra strength for your strikes. You can temporarily replace some of your lower value crystal cards with BUX cards for the duration of the raid. If you haven't already, a player can use the Power Counts button on the POWER>TRAIN tab to see what cards you are actively using for each attribute.
For the lower level, Abominable Yetti RAID, a team of 4-5 player who each dole out 200,000 damage during the course of the raid each have a fair shot of getting a substantial quantity of all the offered rewards. On the Heroes Rising Players Page, there are several opportunities to see other player's RAID results. After some examination and participation, these are some of the results I have observed.
  • There are quite a few players participating and sharing raids. I've seen RAID results shared from groups of 10 and groups of nearly 30. There are invites going out like mad, but several of them have already ended before I have received the invitation.
  • Typically, there are 2 or 3 characters that dominate each of the lower RAID score-wise. I have observed one instance where a high level character sweeps in and in one hour does over a third of the RAID target's health in under an hour. Open invitations do allow players to come in and dominate the field in a moments notice. This isn't a negative, per se, about the RAID activity or a players enthusiasm to dominate, but it does quickly reduce the allotted time and damage available to players who have to wait to build energy back up. Don't count on being able to hit certain thresholds in your own performance in an open field. Crows will come in and ravage if possible.
  • In the Abominable Yetti RAID with only 10 participants, all below level 300, those doing over 200,000 damage earned far more quality items than those doing around 100,000 damage. Individual damage ranged from 200-300 for most, with one doing and average of 500(Lvl240ish) to the lowest doing around 100 damage per hit(Lvl 60).
  • The available rewards are not to par with a typical World Raid, which for the summonable aspect of doing them is as to be expected. There are uses for all rewards, either in resale, filling Power Card slots, or adding variety to an arsenal.
  • The snowglobe for summoning these R.A.I.D. events (found in Neo Utopia, along with the AMA parts needed to purchase tokens) drop with fair frequency, but have been discovered for sale in a Black Market during patrols for 50MP. They are your MP to spend, but a bit of farming will get you one for free, so shop wisely.
  • It is possible when creating the RAID to make it private or public. This will help players control who participates.
Overall, these highly desired player summoned RAIDs are a substantial improvement to the game, but will not be of much interest to new players, as they can not join until at least level 50. Even once hitting the threshold, it is likely the damage output of a low-level player won't earn much during one of these events.
Building an "energy toon" will foster several advantages to strong performance in a RAID event. With additional energy to spend, a player can get far more attacks in. When they level, they will get the opportunity to do far more attacks than a player who is relying on Energy Consumables. I predict there will be growth in this type of build in the coming days as more and more players participate.
Opening up a RAID to everyone at this time is a pitfall that can cost players the chance to build up their damage sufficiently to defeat a foe while crossing thresholds for prize awards. Choosing a group of known players to cooperate in damage output might prove to be far more beneficial than sending out a global call for help.
Repeated completions of these RAIDS will build a players ability with each run-through. The arm gear offered in the Yetti RAID will directly help if equipped in the next attempt, as it offers and Elemental Damage boost. The core offered in the Skelanimal RAID is going to be highly sought after.
If you aren't sending out or collecting Gifts from the GIFTS page, start doing so. The depletion of these resources is going to be increasing the longer RAID events are available.

Heroes Rising Fiction: Chaos Rising

Agent Justin and Chase stood outside the R.A.I.D. simulator watching through the extremely thick special glass as a horde of heroes attacked a giant Yeti hologram.

“I never expected them to take off so quickly,” Chase said.

Justin checked some readings and made a few notes on his computer tablet. “Training is important. All the heroes know this. Besides, they like using their powers and this way they get to go full strength without worrying they are destroying cities or putting civilians’ lives at risk.”

“It makes sense.”

Gar walked up and looked into the room for a second. “Wow, look at them go. That’s one big white furry thing.”

“It’s called a Yeti.” Chase said.

“Whatever it is, they’re going to kill it.”

Justin said, “that’s the idea.”

“Justin, Director Nova wants to see you.” Gar said.

“Oh, right, the update. Chase, stay here and prep the program for the next team that has booked the simulator.” Justin left with his computer tablet in his hand.

Walking across the station, Justin made his way up to the Operations center. Director Nova quietly watched the large monitor in front of him as reports came in of daily activity across Earth and the surrounding space.

Without even turning around, Nova said, “Report.”

Justin read from his tablet. “The R.A.I.D system is working perfectly. The heroes are doing well against the programmed adversaries we have, and I have a few more programs almost ready to launch.”

“Good. What about the scanner system?” Nova asked.

Justin checked the tablet and showed Nova a blueprint for a small device. “Ready for deployment as soon as we face another villain worthy of simulation. I can’t wait to try these babies out. Send them out during the battle and by the time it is over, we’ll already be able to simulate it for future training.”

“Don’t be so eager for a fight, Agent.” Nova calmly answered.

Justin nodded. “Sorry, my academic side was getting ahead of logic. I hope we don’t have to use these, but if and when another villain shows up, we’ll be ready.”

Nova let out a sigh. “I suspect we’ll face that sooner than either of us wishes.”

“What do you mean? Is there a supervillain showing up on the reports?” Justin looked at the monitor.

“Not that we can pinpoint. In fact, it may be nothing.”

“What may be nothing?” Justin asked.

Nova shook his head. “We’re getting reports of sightings that turn out to be nothing. Then our energy sensors pick up something massive and when anyone looks, there’s nothing there.”

Justin looked at the data readings from the energy monitor station. “Could be a glitch in the system or some low-level hacker messing with us. We had that one kid from St. Petersburg who thought it was funny sending false alarms to our sensors at the North Pole.”

“I have two of our robots doing full inspections of the systems. I hope they find something wrong that we can just reprogram. However, I can feel something in me, something that isn’t right. I don’t like it.”

Justin smiled. “If there is something coming, then the R.A.I.D. system will help prepare the heroes.”

“What we need is some team building to help strengthen the unity of our heroes.” Nova said.

“What?”

“The heroes do a good job, but they need to work together every time there is a supervillain. Sometimes, they don’t do so well in the cooperative department. Worse, during the recent events where the world blamed us for what Delta was doing, we had to separate our heroes into their leagues and make them stay away from each other. That only strengthened their divisions.”

Justin thought back to that time and worried that Nova was right. The heroes were getting a little cliquish. He had an idea and piped up, “What about League Wars? That brings them all together.”

“That will not work. That only exposes their divisions and encourages them to fight one another. League Wars...” Nova went quiet for a moment as he brightened up. Finally he said, “League Wars! Brilliant idea! Perfect opportunity to teach them some team building!”

Justin looked at his tablet, then the screen, and finally back at Nova. “What just happened, sir? You just made the case that League Wars only breeds division... which makes sense.”

“And I am right about that. But, I have a better idea. We are going to have a completely different style of League Wars. One that will force the heroes to see each other as fellow warriors.”

“I’m not following, sir?”

Nova turned to Justin with an actual smile on his face. “Chaos, that’s what we need, some chaos.”

“Chaos, sir?”

“Chaos Wars. All the heroes who are willing to join will be registered as individuals. Then, we will use our system to put them together in random teams. Those teams will fight a League Wars, but it will be a Chaos Wars. New friendships will be made, new allies will be formed, and when they return to their leagues, they will bring that renewed sense of unity back with them.”

Justin thought about this and then smiled. “I like it. It’s bold.”

“Get on it, have the BADGE computer network release a sign up with information about the event. I don’t want anyone registering without knowing what they’ll be getting themselves into.”

“Understood. I will have that sent out ASAP.”

Justin ran over to a computer and began working on this project. Nova looked back at the monitor with a smile still on his face.

“Alert! Energy Spike registered in sector seventeen.” A robot announced.

Nova and Justin rushed over to the console to check the readings in front of the robot. The moment they arrived, the red flashing warning sign flickered and then a new window opened that merely said, “false alarm, no unusual activity detected.”

Nova looked up at Justin. Both had gained a deep worry across their brows. Nova said, “Get that announcement out. We need to be ready for whatever is coming.”

(November): Category One: REVIEWS/COMMENTARIES And Category Two: GAME GUIDES, GEAR TALK

(Review)

I love heroes rising. I like you can write your backstory and description of your character on your profile. It adds a lot to RPG aspect of the game. The ability customizes your avatar is really cool. The avatar customize could be improved by making some customization gender neutral. I wanted spear for a weapon but had settle for bow since was what was available for female characters. It would be cool if they added more weapons and other features for avatar customizations. I love how this game takes what was good about superhero city adds a bunch of new features to the game. The special events like raid and tug of war nice feature. I wish the special events they would occur more often though or have a special event on weekends just a thought. There is a major issue with the events division pairings. I’ve seen divisions that I was way to powerful and divisions where I fighting level low level beginners which totally unfair and next thing, I know I’m facing characters that are 10 more levels ahead of me. I hope there is way make more fair pairing system that makes since and still progressively gets harder.

(Gear/Guide)

When battles all boils down can you outlast your opponent. I find what works best is having a high movement stat. I’ve lost track of how many battles I’ve lost track because I couldn’t even get one hit in. Don’t wrong the other stats are important to defense is needed high enough so toon isn’t like a glass vase and shatters in one hit. A good enough attack needed so you make dent in your opponent and having damage modifiers from your gear helps. Its good try sticks to your core as much as possible to get damage bonus. With the exception of equipment that helps modify your health and block and movement as well as double damage and other modifiers. Life is important it works hand and hand with defense. The life amount can make a big difference in winning. So remember hit like a freight train with attack and absorb that damage like sponge with defense and most importantly dance to song Can’t touch this with movement.

RAIDS!!!! Free Play Just Got Way Better!!!!

Player ID: 25104

Well, October is over. But before we move on, I'd like to take a moment to reflect on last month. There was a writing contest, a costume contest, a take a picture with a box on your head contest, a raid, a lws, and even trick or treating. Some folks gave out some really big treats for trick or treat. I got about 8 pieces of gear I can really use on my newest toon, just from trick or treat. Just from the contests and giveaways, I managed to acquire about $100 worth of MP. And honestly, I probably spent less than 2 hours total acquiring them. That's pretty big, especially for free and budget players. I'm neither, and that's still big to me. So there are all kinds of options for players of all categories to gain the means to grow, not just stronger, but competitive as well. Which brings me to the newest method, RAIDS!!!!

While we have had world raids for awhile now, the much begged for player summoned raids have just now hit Heroes Rising. These raids go fast, in their current incarnation. The 1st 3 were finished within hours, despite the 2 day timer. Once more players start rolling in, this will only compound itself. I feel there's one of 2 options here for players to get enough damage in to see good rewards. Either Justin will have to increase the life of Raid Bosses, or else players will have to start limiting who they share raids with. I'm hoping for the former. Still, these raids are still in the beta test format, so who knows what changes are to come? We can be sure of one thing though. Justin will soon be on the boards asking us for our opinions and suggestions.

Now, early mumbling seems to revolve around players not getting as good or as many drops as they would like. Let's take things into perspective though. These aren't World Raids. Unlike World Raids, that come every 3 months or so, these raids can be summoned whenever and as often as we have materials for. As soon as they launched, we had 3 going and done within hours. So if you didn't get that raid drop you wanted, keep raiding. It'll come in time. In the mean time, the cards are great. Most are crystal cards, so tiering them up costs no MP. And they're GOOD crystal cards! The MP cards are also pretty top notch for prize cards. I have a feeling a lot of players will be able to go a long way with their toons if they combine and work at Raids and FC.

I'll be honest, I felt like I was playing SHC again when the Mayor summoned that 2nd Raid. Ever since Justin took over, things have been getting better. Instead of feeling like a fool's prison, it's starting to feel like home. I expect Raids will make a lot of people happy and hopefully be a trumpet call to those who have already left and those who never came, to finally return home too. I earnestly look forward to what else Justin brings to the table. I do have a little bit of an inside scoop, and I can assure you that Raids are just the beginning. It's about to get wild up in here! I hope I see the rest of you here with me once all the dust settles.

Also, a big shoutout to Justin! Thanks Justin! You're the REAL MVP!!!!

(November): Category One: REVIEWS/COMMENTARIES

And Category Two: GAME GUIDES, GEAR TALK (Review)

As a formal player of Superhero City, I grown to enjoy this game a lot. Has a lot similar mechanics which made it easy to learn and pick up on. At the same time the game brings unique twist to such the different types of gear that have different resistance to the game. This unique element adds and adds strategy to the game and more incentive to have more than one gear set to fight against different players or NPCs. The game always has an event or fight club to join which is nice. However, I believe the game would benefit with added Raids maybe as everyday thing not just an event. Cause most players battle on the events, clubs and maybe do few missions and get off. By adding raids as everyday thing I believe it would help strengthen the player community. It would add extra since of teamwork other than league wars and tug of wars. Which would add one big strength the game already has. People want to feel connected and want to be entertained at the same time and role play, I believe by adding more raids and events would be good idea. Fanfiction is great idea one suggestion having them put certain elements in stories is a wonderful idea like the duck. It would be more fun especially on months with holidays like they could have it where they put a Turkey in fanfiction for November. It would be funny to see how people would put in the story.

(Gear and guide)

One first starting this game most people make a mistake. The mistake leveling up to fast. This game isn’t game isn’t about grinding and leveling up to get stronger. In order to get stronger, you need level slowly and work to get powers and do events to win MP and powers. Buy remember sell your old ones to replace them with better ones that fit your play style. When coming working on your characters stats, there are 3 things you need to keep in mind you need to be able to take a hit and dodge a hit and lastly you need be able to hit hard. The important is be able last through battle you last longer by having higher defense and higher movement help make that happen. I personally believe that movement is more important. If they can’t get hit in, they it makes a lot harder for your opponent to win a fight against you. Your second thing that helps your defense. Are you able to take a hit and not loss and a huge chunk of health. Lastly is your health. It goes without saying you should have high enough health that way you can out last your opponent. I’ve fought opponents where lost or won and the survivor only had 10 health left. That small bit of health bonus from gear and stats helps so keep these things in mind when looking at gear and getting powers. Remember test your gear out see what works and how close the matches are and what needs improved. This advice can be applied to free players and people have money invested in the game. Lastly ask for ideas what you should do we have close community that helps one another. I hope this helps good luck my fellow heroes. P.S. Fanfiction comings soon
