It wasn’t that Shyla loved to brood in her dark cold apartment; she was simply hiding from the world. Shyla was an extremely powerful empath, a fact those she came into contact with found out. Shyla was forced out of her small economy-sized apartment two months ago when some young jokester pulled the fire alarm, forcing everyone in the apartment to leave. Shyla waited until the last minute to leave, trying to keep from being surrounded by a panicking crowd.
As Shyla was locking her door, her neighbor Billy came running down the hall. As Billy came closer, Shyla was began to feel his fear and rage. The negative emotions soon consumed her, and when Billy tapped her shoulder to ask if she needed help, Shyla emitted a psychic scream, releasing all of the emotions she had absorbed. Billy fell to the floor, completely overwhelmed. Shyla fled back into her apartment, hoping that she would burn down with her building. But the fires never came. Eventually Billy recovered, but he never walked past her apartment again.
It was Tuesday and Shyla was ready to go out of the house at 3:15am, the time she felt no one left in Sun Dawn City would be around. She made her way out of the building in her black and purple dress and flared leather jacket. Her jet black hair reached the middle of her back, and her flared black jacket. As she walked around the city, two masked men snuck up behind her. Shyla could feel them approaching and her heightened senses picked up on everything they felt from their pure evil souls to their bravado of knowing they found an easy and possibly fun prey for the end of the night. Shyla was nearly paralyzed by their evil intentions, and the two criminals approached her in what they thought was complete stealth.
Just as the men went to touch her she turned around in rage, remembering what happened to Billy and knowing no one deserved to be hurt and channeled all she was feeling. The surge of empathic energy knocked both men off their feet and across the street. Shyla was hardly able to control her breath as she saw the pool of blood expanding around each man’s head, and she raced back to her apartment, locking the door sinking back into the depths of her always darkened life.
It was a more than a week until Shyla came out of her apartment again. She wrapped herself up tightly once more, remembering how much she loved Sun Dawn City, with its unique architecture and beautiful parks. On her walk, she looked at one of the newspaper dispensers and noticed that the headline read: “City Still Looking For Hero Deemed 'Dawn's Vengence.'" She walked the rest of the way home with a spring in her step.
