Hero Olympiad: End of Day Two - Finalists in the "Push-up" event

by Chaz Hamilton

Hello once again, sports fans. Day Two of the Hero Olympiad brought us an event that takes us all back to a junior high school gym class. Yes, the heroes all dropped to the ground and counted off as they rose and dropped while trying to find out who could do the most push ups. And they rose. And they dropped. And they rose. And they dropped.

And they rose.

And they dropped.

As it turns out, making people with superpowers do push ups isn't as exciting. I mean, sure, the heroes with super-speed made it look extremely easy and those with telekinetic powers simply levitated up and down, but other that a few stylistic differences, a push up is a push up.

There also seemed to be a fair amount of confusion on the process. Many heroes had visited the local gym and built up their skill at doing push ups over the last few months while on patrols, but the development of their overall skill was still a mystery. And while competing, there wasn't a clear course on what the best method was. There were many, many items that were used to give heroes a supposed edge, but the application of brute physical skill and time spent in the gym doing push ups didn't have a clear measure of how success was achieved.

I'm thinking that Mayor CJ's gym might become very popular in the future as heroes prepare for the next similar event. Lord knows, everyone has exercise gloves to spare for the next push up event.

In Division 3, the three medalists were:

One hundred and fifteen contestants entered in this division, which is forty more than entered into the "Most Wins" competition. The lowest number of push ups was 954 and the highest was 51, 646 by Gold Medalist INFIDEL of Suffering. Two relatively new heroes, MechaOgre and Angelus, took silver and bronze respectively.

In Division 2, the three medalists were:

Carnage out-did the competitors in Division 3, and Division 1 by a fair amount of push ups. It seems like Carnage was out to prove something, and he did. He can push up like nobody's business.

Bad News. No, nothing is wrong, but Bad News took the silver and SADIST took bronze in Division 2.

97 contestants entered in this division, three fewer than did the "Most Wins" event. I figure some people just needed a day to rest.

In Division 1, the three medalists were:

The Avenger 51 took gold in Division 1, leaving Sarg with silver and Nemesis with bronze. It is worth noting that Nemesis and Sarg did both place in the "Most Wins" event, making both of them the first multiple medalists in the Hero Olympiad. (Nemesis took gold and Sarge took bronze.)

Congratulations to both of these competitors.

84 contestants entered in Division 1, down from the 86 that were in Division 1 for "Most Wins"

Today, we find our heroes in a battle of the elements. Did they choose wisely or poorly for their elements? Time will tell. I'll report back on that tomorrow. Time for me to push.... off. Have a great day, Sentinel readers.
