The Hanzo Ninja Clan School Of Anything Goes Martial Arts Lesson 9

"Dew Bee or not Dew Bee, THAT is the question!"

So, you've filled your decks. You've even replaced all the cards you got from game play that you know you'll never use. Now all you have left are Bux and Crystal cards as your lowest to replace. You just dropped $25 on a splurge and sold off enough useless gear and cards to bring your Morphon total to just over 500. You already have a nice suit running and aren't hurting for more. So you've decided to replace some of those Bux and Crystal cards with Morphon cards.

Maybe you'll spin the Shuffle.

Maybe you'll buy cards directly from the store.

Now, I don't want to dissuade players from rolling the Shuffle. There's good gear in there. But the truth is, Crystal and Bux cards, fully tiered, are often better than the vast majority of untiered Morphon cards. Only the top Morphon cards really hit the ground running right out of the gate. That means, unless you plan on tiering your Morphon cards, odds are high they won't be as good as your Crystal cards anyway. And if the Crystal cards are better, or even possibly the Bux ones, then why buy a Morphon card instead of just collecting Crystals for more Crystal cards?
Now, here's something else to think about. Top Morphon cards from the store cost between 50 and 75 Morphons. Acquired from the Shuffle, they cost between 63 and 70 Morphons and be pot luck. Maybe you get a card that is better than a fully tiered top Crystal card. Maybe you get junk. Is the Morphon investment really worth it?

Now, something people tend to forget or not think about when deciding to replace cards is that they don't get the full value of that card anymore, now that their decks are full and the top Bux and/or Crystal cards are the lowest ones. Before you can add a card and its stat values, 1st you have to take away the stat values of the card being replaced.

So if my fully tiered Divine Fire gives me:
Att: 140 Def: 50 Move: 60

I have to subtract those values from the values of the new card replacing it. So my new, untiered Skull Smash card that cost me 62 Morphons gives:
Att: 141 Def: 77 Move: 72

I just spent 62 Morphons to add 1 Att, 27 Def, and 12 Move..........
62 Morphons for 40 Stat Points.........

But what if we already have an untiered Skull Smash in our deck? What if we tiered it instead of buying a new one? Let's look. We already know the untiered stats. Each tier costs us 21 Morphons. It costs 1 more Morphon to tier this card 3 times than it cost to buy one. So 63 Morphons. The stats for this card after tiering 3 times to tier 4 are:
Att: 247 Def: 135 Move: 126

You get FULL value for those Morphons because you don't subtract the card you would have otherwise replaced. Now, we DO still have to subtract the original stat value of the card from the new totals.
Att: 247 Def: 135 Move: 126
Att: 141 Def: 77 Move: 72

results in:
Att: 106 Def: 58 Move: 54

So, when we compare what we actually get from replacing vs tiering, we get this:
1 Att vs 106 Att
27 Def vs 58 Def
12 Move vs 54 Move

And all it cost was 1 more Morphon spent in the RIGHT place. So, as you can see, you might not want to be in such a hurry to replace your Bux and Crystal cards with Morphon cards. It just might be....... No, I take it back. It most assuredly IS better to tier your Morphon cards before replacing your free Bux and Crystal cards.
