Editorial: Leagues In Heroes Rising
A Contribution By John Schoenfeld (aka "The Closer") Of The 5th Precinct Leagues
Heroes Rising Is a social game. We need gifts for fights and energy, so we need to be introduced to other players. We have league based events, like League Wars, for added entertainment. The rewards for participating in these events also increase our power in game. The subject of league selection will be important to most very early on.
League selection will probably be a deciding factor in if you play the game actively or not. It can be a large part of the reward for the effort you put in.
When you first join the game and click the “league” tab, you’ll find a mostly blank screen that suggests you either create a league immediately, or find one seeking members. Then it posts a link to the players Facebook group, so you can find the community.
You’ve now been given 3 options to approaching league selection.
1. Creation. You create a league, with a theme that compliments your play style, and hopefully attracts other players. You can also invite other players manually from their profile pages. We generally find other players within the game on the fighting screens under the “battle” tab, battle, vengeance, king of the mountain, and fight club. Or on our friends list, once we start adding other players.
2. Join A League. You can message the leader of an existing league and request to join. You may find those leagues within the battle screens mentioned above. You might choose a league for many reasons, perhaps they seem powerful within the game, or they have an exciting or humorous theme that appeals to you.
Within the community there are leagues with traditions you may become familiar with as you play. Some may seem strange. There are of course heroes, and villains, pirates, and clowns, leagues that represent the law, and mythological beings, even penguins (I can’t explain everything). It may be, that you can’t select a league that does justice to your character, until you are very sure who they are within the game. This sort of leads us to option 3…
3. Join the Community. You can just dive into the player pages, posts, and discussions. Find out who they are, and what they represent. Before long you’ll have an idea who’ll be a good fit. Also very common, is the “Looking for a league” post. That certainly attracts some attention. The community is very welcoming to new players.
I hope this helps. We look forward to seeing you in Heroes Rising!
The Closer.
