by Starmaster
Where multiple challengers engaged in this battle of the big brains. I can’t speak for all of the divisions, but in Division #2, when the battle had come to the point of ending imminently, a battle for the #5 position broke lose. First place was securely held by Nightshadow, followed by Sevon, ChaChing, and Chomatic Death in the next ranks, all of the Avengers 51 family of teams.
The fifth place was up for grabs. Gatekeeper Arosha of the Avengers 51, Captain Bob of Seraphim Angels, and Starmaster of the Star Force all wanted that placement. They wanted it badly. Repeatedly, one would take the position. Starmaster would knock out Gatekeeper Arosha. Captain Bob would knock Starmaster down to the 10th position when defeating him and claiming the #5 spot. Gatekeeper Arosha would surge up and take the spot from Captain Bob. Gear was changed to give advantage over each of the opponents. Consumables were used to gain energy and other benefits.
After 8pm, when the event was due to begin the end stage, these three went round and round, each holding the spot and praying for the event to end while they were on top. Watching the screen, names pop up talking about other defenses or defeats in other events or divisions, but sometimes it doesn’t update fast enough. Then in a split second, the data changes and position #5 goes from one to being under anther’s control.
For a short moment, LOKI-666 of ~666~ Hor$emen of the Apocolyp$e ♦♞♦ stepped in and took the position, creating a fear that he might capture and hold the coveted position. Either Captain Bob or Gatekeeper Arosha took him out of the position while Starmaster was regaining his battle energy, and the three of them went at it again. Fortunately for the three of them, LOKI-666 didn’t try a second time.
The clock was ticking down. Battles needed to be recharged, and when you are waiting 5 minutes for the ability to try again, it seems like forever. The question asked becomes “do I attack now or wait a bit longer and let the other two wear themselves out?”. A risk can pay off or cost you the prize. You know that the other two people are debating the same question.
Finally, just before 9pm, the ‘ending imminent’ became ‘match over’ and Starmaster managed to capture the placement in rank #5. It was a hard-won battle, and Captain Bob, at level 271, gave as good as he could and Gatekeeper Arosha was swinging way up over his head, being level 93 and holding his own.
Dedicated combats like that are hard to come by and I appreciated to effort put in by both into the challenge, so I would like my payment for this article to be split between the two of you in honor of your efforts. Thank you for a great fight.
