shhh... OK, I'm only sharing this information right now because I always believe you, our heroes, need to be aware of what is going on. What I'm about to share with you is meant to be kept hush-hush for now. I don't have all the details yet, but something is going to be happening soon.
It all started a few days ago. I was on the BADGE Orbital Space Station and I saw EB hopping down one of the corridors after a meeting with Nova. He was acting suspiciously. He didn't offer an egg to anyone. His head was down and he was flipping through notes and files as he went along his merry way. A bit of paper, jostled out by his up-and-down movement, fell onto the floor behind him.
I fully intended to pick up the piece of paper and return it to him, but something made me want to look at it first.
This is what I found...
Plans for just a few days from now. I caught up to him and politely asked how he was doing.
"Oh, um, I'm fine. Busy, busy, busy. Have to get ready for next Easter, you know."
"So there wouldn't happen to be anything interesting around the corner for our heroes, would there?" I asked.
"Oh, no, no, no. Seriously, no. Nothing at all."
I knew he was lying, of course. Since when is EB ever serious about anything. He rapidly sprinted away from me before I could return what he had dropped. If he wasn't going to tell me, I decided to find out for myself.
Any reporter worth his salt has a contact or five they can rely on for clues. My confidential source revealed to me that EB and Nova had been traveling, inspecting some sites for a undisclosed purpose. Using the elaborate facial recognition program that BADGE employs to find criminals, my source was able to find this image for me from earlier in the day.
My curiosity was more than piqued. My reporter's nose was itching like I was Frost interviewing Nixon. Something was definitely afoot, and it was bigger than EB's sizable feet.
I asked around some more, talking to various heroes and trying to understand what might be underway. Nobody seemed to have a clear idea, but just yesterday, I came across an interesting internet share.
Shinobi had been in New Amsterdam on Patrol. He fought villains and criminals as normal, using his skill and prowess to bring justice to miscreants who sought to do wrong. Rumors have been floating around about new organizations out to get their hands dirty against our worlds heroes, and not just the one that seems to be connected to the missing Avatars.
No, there are said to be other groups out their targeting leagues across the board. There is even one named Villains Inc that is said to be throwing cash around and aiding ne'er-do-wells with their problems. I'm still digging into this story, but more on that later.
As for Shinobi, he found some interesting paraphernalia that he hadn't seen before.
Another hero in a nearby area discovered a different type of performance enhancer in one of the Black Markets.
What could be the thread that connects these clues into one big story? I used another favor from one of my contacts and stole a peek at Director Nova's schedule for the next week and found this...
Most wins? Push-ups? Element Battles? Contests of Skills? A marathon? These weren't terms typically used in the League War events. This was something new.
This is something new.
Heroes, I don't know what you can or should do to prepare for what is coming, but forewarned is four-armed... Hold on, wait. That's not right. I mean, yeah, sure, it's a super power I've heard of, but in this case I mean Forearmed. Keep an eye out for other hints and clues. Let me know what you find out.
Until then, keep a watchful eye out. New things are popping up now that Purgatory Penitentiary is letting criminals escape once more. Will the world ever be safe again?
