League Wars: Don't Forget

By Chaz Hamilton

Haunted Heroes is almost upon us. While this is a time to be building your leagues, don't forget to take care of yourself.

  • Be sure to take a look at your Power Cards.
Have you leveled all of the cards you have recently gained? There have been many fights that have come down to those last few Life Points, so verifying all your Power Cards are at peak value could be a deciding factor in a narrow competition.
Also, consider what Power Cards you have. Do you have the best versions? Could you sell some of your Mission cards back and use them to by one better power card? If you have done several rounds in New Amsterdam, you might have enough Slip Pulse cards or Fiery cards to unload and get an upgrade.
  • Keep a record of your toughest competition.
While fighting in the Fight Clubs, normal battles, or events, there are usually those same foes who you know are a challenge. Make a note of who they are to save yourself from an unnecessary defeat, or in some cases, a manipulative gambit. I have seen several players who change their names and uniforms during league wars to throw off their competitors, hoping to sucker-punch an unsuspecting opponent.
My hint: Names, character bios, and costumes can be changed. So far as I know, player ID #s cannot. Verify an unknown opponent before attacking and save yourself future self-beratement.
  • Plan out your best gear options.
The right gear is pivotal to a league war win. Don't only change cores. If you have paid attention to your notable opponents, some of them rely on Stun mechanics. Some collect gear with heavy resistances to offset their vulnerabilities. Under the gear tab, you can save loadouts of common combinations you use. This will make it much easier to select the right pieces in advance rather than constantly changing your lineup with each new fight.
  • Communicate with your league.
Has a ringer snuck in and created a big roadblock to your league's plans for victory. Share the information with your teammates. You can lose far more points against one opponent than you can win, and the same goes for your team. Don't give away attacking losses that end up bringing up your rival leagues score if you can help it.
  • Do your part and Have Fun
Remember, what happens in league war stays in league war. (No, it really doesn't, does it?)
The ideal purpose of these games in to prepare our heroes for battles to come. With that said, your league relies on the participation of each member. You do not have to fight each opponent, but if you are in a league event, the action of one person sitting out can effect the outcome for everyone. If you committed to joining a league, be there. If you can't, make plans with your league leader.
