League Wars: Haunted Heroes Round One Wrap-Up

By Chaz Hamiltion

What a day! While I am aboard the BADGE space station, dealing with all sorts of strangeness, I want to take a take a few minutes to speak about what has happened so far during League Wars: Haunted Heroes.

The top story is, of course, the DOUBLE (Yes, I said double) OVERTIME in Division Seven. Our hats go off to the 5th Precinct Undercover and Mojo's Dojo for bringing us one of the most exciting, most unexpected bit of sports entertainment in league war history. In special recognition of the event, these two teams have been awarded extra. well earned, bonuses for their competition.

While this has been the big topic so far, there should be some discussion of the battle rounds in other divisions.

Let's start in Division One with this HUGE, overlooked result.

Who would have expected this result in Division One? WMD has not only captured the win in their battle round, but they did it without giving away one win. Did the shift of the Avenger's League from their typical place in Division One lead to an opening for unbridled carnage by the WMD-Black Order organization? With NMDS and the Legacy of Spawn as the only two opponents left in that league, I hope that there will be a stand against WMD-Black Order coming away from Haunted Heroes with an undefeated hat-trick.
The other match between the NMDS and Legacy of Spawn went to NMDS in a 98-31 decision.

Division Two

Who would have ever thought that the Avengers taking the win in a round would be the third most interesting event of a league war battle-round?
Before the league war started, there was a huge amount of debate during the registration process. Arguments were made from both sides as to the potential right and wrong of those actions. There were comments made in the Players Forum, such as this one, about the entire situation:
Kevin O - And with these things happening, a select few are trying to manipulate to win. My time and money is better spent somewhere else.

For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction, right. That may be true in physics, but when dealing with people, there is often collateral damage caused by the meeting of such forces. These consequences roll downhill and impact those left behind when conflict happens between powerful, large organizations. Lack of faith in the process and a belief that factors behind-the-scenes will have an impact on an individuals ability to succeed.

With the Avengers dropping a league to compete against a rival, there could be an arguement made for there being too much attention being paid to staying small. Already, lower ranking leagues compete in fear of advancing too far and facing them. What will happen if the Avengers remain in Division Two? Who will ever try to get past them and enter Division One?

Either way, the Avengers defeated the 5th Precinct Galactic (168-45) and The Colony 51 rose above the 5th Precinct: Psycho Squad (110-30).

Division 3

The Avengers: Horse Riders and The 666 Horsemen came out with the wins in this division, giving the Avengers organization their second win.
Division 4

This division finds the avengers (lower case) defeating the 5th Precinct: Kung Fu Hustle, giving the Avengers organization their third win. By the way, take a look at the members of the Avengers organization fighting in this division. Five heavy-hitting, 200+ level combatants are fighting in the pits far below their usual stomping grounds.
Baptized in Blood triumphs over the RG-Creatures of the Night league.
Division 5

In the first division with 8 competing leagues, we find that the 5th Precinct: Instigators bring the 5th Precinct organization their second win for the battle round by trouncing the Justice Knights. Tygger's Freak Show prevents the 5th Precinct: Code Blue from advancing to a gold this league war, and the Avengers organization have their 4th win of the battle round against Red Guard. The 1st Spacemarine Battalion overcomes the opposition of the Pyscho Squad: Injustice League (which I have been informed in the past is also under the umbrella of the 5th Precinct organization.)
Division 6
The Ghost Warrior organization appears for the first time in Division 6, fighting family as the Ghost Warriors fight the GW-Deadly Alliance. PAIN (this league affiliated with the Ghost Warrior brand in the last league war) defeats another 5th Precinct league, 5th Precinct: Wise Guys, giving the GW brand a second win. The Stealth(51) unleashes its might against fourth Ghost Warrior team, GW-Chosen one, adding to the 51 organization win column (two wins). A second NMDS team gives their organization another win by defeating the Star Force.
This brings me to question the formation of organizations large enough to have multiple leagues within one division. With four Ghost Warrior leagues and two 5th Precinct leagues in one sphere of combat, do the wins go to the best of the best based on combat or behind-the-scenes strategy when the round is fought between two members of the same family?
What would happen if a division in the future had all four or eight slots filled by the same league organization?
Division 7

We have already discussed the Double Overtime battle, which gives the 5th Precinct Organization their 4th win. Suicide Squad takes the prize over another 5th Precinct: Buddy Cops. Dark Guins 51 overtakes the Freaks of Nature, giving the 51 union their third win. The Shield blocks effectively against the 5th Precinct: The DarkSabres.
Division 8

Bringing our tour-the-leagues to a close, Division 8 sees Suffering smiting Riders on the Storm, continuing to add to the Ghost Warriors winning efforts. The Purple Onion brings the GW Army of Angel to tears by taking the win. S7 takes down 5th Precinct: Space Force.
Our final listed battle brings us back where we have started. The Brotherhood takes an undefeated win against 777.

What will battle round two bring? Tune in tomorrow and watch to see if the excitement continues, the drama continues, or if it is a bit of both.

I hear some movement over nearby, so I better take my leave. Odd things are happening over here on the BADGE Space Station HQ and I don't want to get left behind. If you happen to see Director Nova, let him know I am on the way for our interview.

Congratulations to all winning leagues and best of luck in the next rounds. With heroes such as you all, the world should feel much safer knowing you are all on their side, doing your best to master your powers and working to become the best heroes you can all be.

Signing off,
Chaz Hamilton
