I know many of the players here are established, long-term players, but there are always new players stopping by and giving Heroes Rising a try. If you are one of those new players, trying to work your way through your first dozen levels, let me share some advice with you.
Take a look at the New Player bundles offered in the game for players below level 12. There are two of them and together they cost $15 dollar (one for $5 and one for $10). These bundles offer Morphons, Power Cards, and one of them an item. Both bundles are a worthwhile investment into your characters future. And truth be told, game designers need to eat, too. These initial purchases are definitely a Win-Win for both parties.
When a new player starts out, timing plays a big key in your advancement. If you are lucky and begin when a "Hunt" event is taking place, you can get some nice Power Cards in advance of your level to gain them. At Level 9, during the Red Shard Hunt (or as a reporter, I labeled it The Quest in the Midwest), I know of a hero that earned 34 Power Cards (mostly Crystal-based, but some Morphon-based. The advantage of these types of cards is that they do not have upkeep costs.
"Hunts" occur periodically, so don't fret if you didn't join at just that perfect moment. Another one is always around the corner.
These New Player bundles offer a variety of Morphon-based cards and Morphons that can be used to purchase you choice of items (either Gear or Power Cards). One bundle includes a Ring of Life that will nearly double your Health as soon as you put it on.
When it comes to your initial Morphon purchases, let me advise you that better Gear is always a good choice in the long run. You can obtain decent Gear by defeating Bosses in Missions or through Crystal-based purchases in the Armory. The right Gear purchased with Morphons will compliment your character's arsenal. Do some shopping and see what combinations tickle your fancy.
There are many players who play-for-free or limited purchases. These are both viable options. Put the work in and reap the rewards. I only suggest looking into these New Player bundles as a cost-effective method to jump-start your heroes career.
These New Players bundles will disappear on September 28th. The will likely return, but like any good deal, who knows how soon that will be. You can find them on your Powers tab, but only if you are Level 12 or lower and have not already purchased them.
Give it some thought.
