The Month of October is about to "Fall" on Heroes Rising

by Chaz Hamilton

Hello, Sentinel Readers. We've seen some excitement in September, haven't we? The Ruby Shard Hunt, or as I called it, the Quest in the Midwest. Results from the art contest with three most excellent limited-run Power Cards under the Powers tab. Anyone who is working to collect a full set of cards that the game has put out better snap them up, because I guarantee they will not last.

This upcoming month will prove to be very eventful. Listening in on Dan Peyton's bi-weekly chats, he has revealed, without spoilers, that October will be a very busy month. So busy that there are events that he would like to put out for the players but doesn't feel that there is time to do them justice. What could possibly be around the corner?

Since Heroes Rising has hit their one year anniversary, we can look at last October for some clues.

#1: We have already hear rumblings as to the Heroes Rising "Dress up like your character" costume contest, and its companion, the "Gender-Bender"(or whatever else Trace Evans wants to call it). One thing that new players, or some old players may not be doing is looking back on old Sentinel posts on the These City Streets blog. I'm not going to hazard a guess at what the prize would be for this contest, but if you go back and look at past posts from last year, I will tell you that the prize for the Halloween contest was, <ahem> GENEROUS!

#2: Last October, the inaugural Heroes Rising League Wars took place. It has been a while since our capes took to the orbiting space station for the Stellar Battle. Will there be a League War 5 in our future? My only thought is that October is a good month for sequels. Halloween, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street... Will we have League War 5: Space Zombies?
If that is the case, I highly recommend you start building up your leagues now rather than later.

#3: One thing we can count on is Dan Peyton's new arc for his lore stories. He has hinted that they may begin again mid-October, and they will tie in with game-time events. Can he resist putting a frightening spin on Krampus's plans. I mean, to be honest, doesn't Krampus look like he would be far happier during Halloween than Christmas?
Strange Quark is acting oddly. Chase has been found, but she is aligned with the enemy. Krampus's mouth is watering at the idea of having gained a new BADGE operative under his control. And we still don't know what the Ruby Shards are all about. (I have a suspicion, but I can't wait to find out if I am right. How about all of you?) That leads me to the next event...

#4) ...A Raid! There has been a history of Dan's stories leading up to global level events. The Battle in Bursa vs the Jinn. The call to duty in North Onnotangu and the fight with Skelanimal. (I won't forget that Skelanimal actually did a fair bit of self-harm to himself in that raid, and did anyone else notice that he was helping collect Ruby Shards during the hunt? I think Director Nova must have had him on a tight leash to do that after his capture. Now, that should be a piece of fan art. Director Nova walking Skelanimal on a leash. [Please, someone else laugh with me at that image])
If a raid is approaching, new players, here is some advice. Build up your attack power to get in as much damage as you can. There is a lot of focus on movement for League Wars and Fight Clubs, but in the past, Raids have been all about damage, and the more you do, the better the rewards you will earn.

#5) ???
The developers may have a nice Trick for us up their sleeves, or maybe even a Treat if we are good. As I mentioned earlier, look back at the past events last October. All of the upcoming events in October might prove to be an excellent source for submitting an article to the Sentinel. September saw the rates for articles improve, so it is a good source for gaining some Morphons. Not that I am trying to put myself out of a job at the Sentinel, but I cannot cover every story. We want to hear from your POV on the world of Heroes Rising
(Of course, if you would be interested in doing an "In The Room" interview with me, send me a message. I've got a clear calendar at the moment.)

Happy October, everyone. Keep your eyes open and watch out for the next big things. Find some players to do a Halloween-themed Collaborative Story with or go shopping for your costume and WOW us with your re-creation of your character. Above all, continue to level, have fun, and grow our community.
