Alvin has found his life changed quite a bit since the day he was
empowered. His powers so far are pretty average, Laser Vision,
Titanium Skin and Lightning Fast movement...those seem to be a common
set shared by many of the new heroes. He has had contact with the
new government agency called B.A.D.G.E. and has agreed to work with
them.
They contact him to
let him know that a winged foe has been spotted flying in the areas
he regularly patrols, time for action. Donning his lightly armored
green costume, Alvidan hits the street.
The flying person is
fairly easy to find, it is not like he is hiding. He sees the green
streak that is the approaching hero and says, "Ah, I was told to
expect opposition in these parts. Let us see what this world has to
offer."
This world? Well,
BADGE did say that the rifts that are inducing power by the strange
"Morphon" particles the release are caused by breaches
between worlds. It seems like something else came through.
The flyer pulls out
some conventional-seeming firearms...the weapons may be normal enough
but the ammo is armor-piercing...enough to pierce is titanium skin.
He learns that when one of the slugs wings him. This is not good,
the flier is staying too high for his laser vision and able to shoot
holes in him.
The GOOD news is,
Alvidan is fast enough to be hard to hit. Not quite bullet catching
or bullet-dodging fast, but fast enough to be tough to aim for.
The Flier comments,
"Hardly a Challenge for a Raptor so far, human."
Alvidan replies, "I
am just getting started, Raptor."
He runs through some
nearby bushes, kicking up dust and leaves to that the Raptor can not
see where he is...he is experienced at climbing buildings from his
youth where he would climb to places others would not reach him to
avoid being picked on. Climbing to a nearby roof, he charges up to
the rooftop and throws himself up, using the height and the slope of
the roof and his speed to leap. Not withing physical reach still,
but close enough his Laser Vision can reach.
The Raptor uses
ornithopter-like wings designed to emulate those of a bird, which
means if you clip the end feathers on one side he becomes unstable.
The things you learn while raising chickens on a farm may not seem
useful in fighting crime, but you never know what will turn out to be
handy.
Alvidan clips the
wing-tip feather on the Ornithopter's right wing before falling back
to the ground, where he lands using his speed and titanium skin to
absorb the impact.
Raptor struggles to
remain airborne while Alvidan starts using super-speed to throw
rocks. A rock that is thrown at 200+ miles an hour can do a fair
amount of damage even if it weighs less than a pound. Raptor finds
himself unable to both dodge and remain in the air, and once he is on
the ground Alvidan can use his speed to attack with his laser eyes
from numerous different locations until the Raptor staggers and falls
under the assault.
B.A.D.G.E. must have
already been on the way, because they show up shortly. While Alvidan
is checking out the area before heading in to do the paperwork, he
finds a ring with a symbol on it similar to the one on The Raptor's
uniform. The villain must have dropped it after getting hit at some
point. Alvidan decides to keep it as a Trophy.
