As the excitement from the battles of the second round of the Frosty League Wars fades, Crossroads reviews the results of the days battles across all the divisions.
Wow! Looks like there was some serious fighting out there," Crossroads muses. "ꆜ⚫ƗŇŦØ ŦĦ€ ĐΔŘҜŇ€ŞŞ⚫ꆜput up a serious fight against ~ƝMĐŞ~┌∩┐(◣_◢)┌∩┐. Not bad for a relatively new league!"
"But OUCH! My old league Red Guard got hammered by %th Precinct Instigators....man, I don't know how to feel about that. On one hand, I absolutely feel terrible for my old team mates in Red Guard. But, on the other hand, I am happy that the 5th Precinct Family posted another win! So confusing!"
Further confusing her feelings was the fact the her current team, 5th Precinct Omniversal Traffic Cops had to battle it out with 5th Precinct Galactic in Round 2. Crossroads had spent the last several months sparring with members across the spectrum of the 5th Precinct Teams and had struck up many friendships on the teams.
Having to treat them as the opposition in battle wasn't a new thing. After all, that's what sparring is all about, anyway. But the intensity of the battle in the arena during a League War seems to up the competitiveness of everybody and it soon becomes a "crush or be crushed" brawl. No mercy. No quarter. No excuses. It doesn't matter how good a friend they are, they are trying to pound your face into the arena floor with extreme prejudice, so you need to reciprocate with the same ferocity. If you don't, you will lose.
"I had to beat down several friends. Aflima seemed to take it OK, but Macaia's Daughter was pissed and I really don't want her mad at me, there are too few women heroes as it is and I don't want any of them to resent me.. Dracomeander actually complimented me on the fight, so I think we're good there. I don't know the rest very well and they were all unconscious when they were carried of the floor."
"Well they were trying to do the same to me," Crossroads reasoned as she turned walked and walked away from the Results Board.. "Heh. I'm just glad I didn't have to be a gracious loser this time around."
Unfortunately, that thought and her path brought her attention to her team's match-up for the next round.
"][☣][ WMD - Black Order versus 5th Precinct: Omniversal Traffic Cops." The sign for Division 1 proclaimed.
Crossroads sighed and sat down on a bench just outside the arena's food court, trying not to be noticed. She was nervous. More than nervous, actually. The thought of battling such an elite crew was staggering to her.
She had been working so hard over the past couple of years to become stronger and stronger. She knows she has surpassed many of the heroes who she idolized when she first started. But ][☣][ WMD - Black Order was of a different order altogether. The heroes who belonged to that league were the most powerful and celebrated heroes in the world. And the most feared.
][☣][ ‡ Da/\/\oN ‡ ][☣][ has been fighting battles for ages and across dimensions and has won more battles than any other hero in the world. ][☣][Hot Wings][☣][ is considered the highest ranked hero in all of BADGE. Heck, ][☣]✡[THE WIZARD]✡[☣][ is the premiere magic user in this plane of existence!
Being beaten by them wouldn't be so bad, though. She's been beaten before and she can deal with that. What worries her aren't those heroes or even ][☣][Avenger][☣][ or ][☣][ §ﾚαgα†h⊕☈ ][☣][, powerful though they are. No what wories her are the other two members of ][☣][ WMD - Black Order.
][☣][ รкєlคภเ๓คl ][☣][. Hero or villain, there is no doubt he is powerful. The only time Crossroads had fought him was when he was jacked up by Krampus' magic. And it was not a fun time at all. It took the combined might of all the heroes of BADGE to take him down that time. And while he isn't full of evil magic any more, he is still a violent and bestial creature who most people avoid pissing off. Most people aren't even sure he's really rehabilitated. However, he's on the one team guaranteed to knock him out if he gets out of hand.
The other one was even more worrisome. Miðgarðsormr. Ancient beyond comprehension. Powerful beyond belief. The one hero who, when ][☣][ รкєlคภเ๓คl ][☣][ was running amok, was able to actually knock him on his ass and do serious damage. And he also went toe to toe with Krampus. He was absolutely frightening. And not just because of his power levels. He was also a giant snake. Crossroads hated snakes. Absolutely. Hated. Snakes!
Crossroads sighed again. "Tomorrows gonna be a bitch....."
