Tug of War: Tailgating in the B.A.D.G.E. parking lot

The qualifying round is over. The Blue Team and The Green Team start to gather at the earthbound B.A.D.G.E. headquarters, each in their respective parking areas. Why? Because when isn’t a good old game of Tug of War a reason for a tailgating party? (It’s easier if you just go with it. This does take place in the future, so who knows what traditions will be around then.)

Based on the success of his Poker Night (and his wife’s banning of further group events from their home), Highlander has prepared an awesome food line-up for all to enjoy. Tables are full of some of this season’s top appetizer; Macaia’s (Daughter)-arella Sticks, Hot Wings® Wings, Bacon Ninja Wraps, Heisenburg Brats, and Peking DuckButter Baby-Back Ribs. All these and many, many foodie adventures wait to please player’s palates.

Lykos is responsible for chips and snacks, once again, so the maintenance crews have been put on standby for his arrival.

This is strictly a B.Y.O.B. event. Nobody wants to get stuck with that tab.

Weather-themed heroes are doing their best to provide the best atmosphere for the atmosphere. Warm breezes, bright cloudless skies, and low humidity make for a comfortable battleground.

The challenger take to fighting as soon as the coin is tossed. (Yeah, I know, who needs a coin for a Tug of War?) In one of the early attempts, announcers are heard calling out,

“Derdy Bumhole defeated little daddy”

“♦ Harlequin Rogue ♦ successfully defended against ₮₳ł₦₮₴₮ł₵₭”

“GЯΛVΣ successfully defended against The Black Hurricane”

Seriously people, I don't know where some of these names come from. I just report the news.

Across six different fields of battle, the combatants from each division try to defeat as many opponents as they can. They know that if they are in the top three-quarters of their teams, they will be cut in the next round. The pressure is on.

Meanwhile, back in the parking lots where the players relax and chill in lawn chairs and on tailgates, Director Nova has provided an enormous one-hundred-foot screen and is playing The Blind Side for public entertainment. Next up on the matinee schedule is Dirty Dancing, still a classic after all these years. (At least, according to Director Nova. He still tears up at the thought of Baby being put into the corner.)

Let’s take a look at the field of battle so far.

Division 1 – Twenty-Three players per team (Currently the Green Team has conquered the top 13 ranks)

(Fun Fact: Four of the top 5 level players, all from WMD, are playing on the Green Team)

Division 2 – Sixteen Players per team (The top 10 ranks are tied between Blue and Green at 5-5)

Division 3 – Twenty-Five Players per team (Top 10, 6 Blue Team players, 4 Green Team players)

Division 4 – Sixteen Players per team (Blue Team 6, Green 4 in the top ten ranks)

Division 5 – Twenty-five Players per team (9 for the Blue Team in the top 10, 1 Green)

Division 6 -- Twenty-five Players per team (7 Blue Team, 3 Green in the top 10)

While Division 1 has a clear edge for Team Green, four of the other divisions are favoring the efforts of the Blue Team. With not even one day of battle completed, don’t let the big dogs dominating the first division scare you away from pulling up to the table.

If movies, group tugging, and tailgate party food aren’t your jam, I hope you find some time to come down and enjoy the fun going on in the parking lot anyways. The party mood is going strong. There is even talk about Darksound of the Legion of Unusual Superheroes (L.U.S.H.) bringing out some karaoke equipment and doing a riff-off as long as Captain Marvel promises not to sing Man, I Feel Like a Woman and NMDS’s KZAZ agrees to do his version of the classic 70’s hit, Send in the Clowns.
