Tug of War: To win, should everyone change their name to Tom Brady?

Right at the heels of Frosty League Wars, we have a new event to tackle.

A Tug of War event, Frenzy vs Fury, where the Blue Team battles the Green Team for the top prize. Be prepared for an exciting exchange this go around, as there are some new rules that may prove to have people cheering, and some booing, at the end of each round.

First things first, you have to make the cut. Under the Friday Night Lights, entrants will have to qualify for their right to be on the field. Here is the skinny on the qualifying round.
-- Anyone can enter during the qualifying round.
-- When you enter, you will be placed on a random team.
-- During the qualifying round, attack as many opponents as you can.
-- After the qualifying round, the lowest scoring players will be dropped from each side,
until every team (and every division) has the exact same number of players.

Then, starting on Super---- Sunday, after Krystal Fae sings the national anthem, the rounds will begin.

You can attack each opponent 1 time per period. Fights in this event do not count on other leaderboards. Only attacking wins count towards totals, failed attacks do not score points for either side. If you level up during the event, you will remain in your placed division.

-- After every round, the bottom 25% (rounded UP) of each division will be eliminated.
-- If there is a tie, whoever reached that score first will win.
-- Players are eliminated from both sides, every division, so the matching team sizes will stay equal.
-- After EVERY round, any player who is NOT eliminated will get a free copy of their team card.
-- After the event, the team with the highest score will have their card boosted.

Divisions are as follows:

Division 1 : 260+

Division 2 : 180 - 259

Division 3 : 90 - 179

Division 4 : 55 - 89

Division 5 : 17 - 54

Division 6 : 1 – 16

The dropping of the bottom 25% of a division will be a very interesting mechanic. For instance, Division 1 has 53 possible combatants. Split that into 2 teams and that s 26 people per team if they all register. When the lowest scoring players are dropped after the qualification round, there could be at best 24 or 25 per team. After Round One, they will potentially lose seven players (25%), taking them to 17-18 for Round 2. Round 2, the reduction could be 5 players, reducing the teams to 12-13 in Round 3. Then 4 more players will depart for Round 4 and 8-9 becomes the team size. The start of Round 5, and a loss of 2-3 more players, would bring the teams down to 6-7 per team for the final round.

Other divisions will vary by the size of the team pool but will mirror the above progression.

The results will be very dependent on participation. Active play will be a must if you want to remain in the game. The longer you are able to remain on a team, the more rewards you will earn. Had I been designing the event, I would have suggested that the team size diminish each round as well, to match the team size for the tug of war, giving budget players better odds to last longer into the final rounds, but I enjoy duel events. Not everyone does.

With the random selection of teams, how will it play out? Will the power-hitters be evenly distributed? How many league members from Frosty League Wars will find themselves facing down a friend across the line?

Will the avatar store have appropriate jerseys available, blue or green, for each team?

We will find out one the coin is flipped, and the whistle is blown on Super—Sunday. Get yourselves registered ASAP.

Best of luck to all participants. Don’t forget to wear your helmet.
