Faction Wars: New and Different While Still the Same

Since the announcement of Faction Wars, there has been questions asked. What is it? How do you join? What are the rules? What the heck is going on???

First up, the rules for the upcoming Faction Wars are posted under the tab LW on the Heroes Rising Main Page. There, many questions about how the event will work out are listed. In essence, here is a break down.

  • 24-48 Player teams
  • Leagues are still the foundation for signing up for the event. There is no new system for creating teams. Players can either create a new league for the event, add 'free agent' members to existing league rosters, or even leave their current league to join a new one for the Faction Wars. All reassignments of characters to their Faction War homes will be returned to a snapshot of the current league rosters when the event was announced(May 16) once the first ever Heroes Rising Faction War is completed, approximately June 16th after prizes have been awarded.
  • June 9, signup ends for Faction War teams.
  • Divisions are determined by the average of the 20 highest level league members. If you have a team of 48, only the highest 20 members will determine the division placement. If you have a team of 20, all 20 will impact the division placement. What are the divisions? That won't be known until June 10th, but it is fairly easy to assume that there will be likely 1/3 - 1/4 the number of competition divisions. This will also be dependent on how many teams will be in a division, four, eight, or something new. This will be determined after registration closes.
  • Faction Level will be determined at the time of team registration.
  • HQs do have certain exceptions to their existing rules during Faction Wars impacting attacking rival HQ buildings to complicate the gains from buildings. You can find them on the rules page of Faction Wars.
  • Most of the other rules are quite similar to League Wars.
So far, there have been signs of mergers within the WMD-Black Order team as they have added new members from Angels of Sorcery and have renamed themselves "The Coalition" at the current time. The only have 21 members at the moment, so they are still growing their number, but have a median level of 488 (Highest 569/Lowest 89). They have been seen actively recruiting. The Avengers51 have also been scouting talent as well as adjusting rosters to combine into larger squads. The new event seems to have spurred some excitement, bringing some returning players back to the game.

Other leagues have been actively recruiting on the Heroes Rising Players Page.
  • 5th Precinct Omniversal Guardians - (Contact ID# 14804)
  • Freaks of Nature - (Contact ID# 26586/under level 60 ID# 34295)
  • Justice League - (Leader ID# 21454)
  • The Star Force - (Contact ID# 14716)
  • The Hanzo Ninja Clan Dojo - (Contact ID# 13807)
  • Villains Inc is looking for 25 of the top 50 players - (Contact John Barse or Mayor CJ for info)
  • Others are sprouting up nearly daily as the event approaches. Keep your eye on the Players Page for others recruiting.
Faction Wars have been a part of the Mecha Galaxy game, and player Chuck Auld, who has posted a previous article on his knowledge of the challenge, has offered to answer questions/give advice based on his experience in the Chef's other game. Contact him on Facebook or as Lykos(#18321) if you have need of guidance.

What are the best tactics? Those have yet to be determined. Leagues that have built strong ranks are going to need to add new elements. Elements that will potentially open up new strengths or reveal new weaknesses.
