The energy blast momentarily stunned Highlander, but the lasting effect was simply to make him even more angry that ordinary combat did as a rule, He was soon back on his feet, battling mercenaries again, but not leading the assault.

Solomon was grateful for the assistance from the Star Force contingent, but as usual, didn’t display it.

“C’mon, Kid, we have work to do. MOVE!!” Let’s go!!

Solomon planted a foot on the back of a crouching mercenary, and vaulted over him. The merc felt nothing, stunned as he was from a blow from Ricochet, who had nailed the man with a roundhouse right after the shaken man, reeling from a blow from the big Scotsman, had staggered into Ric’s sights.

A number of mercenaries had beaten a hasty retreat as Wyldfyre unleashed a wall of flame in their direction. The inferno enveloped Highlander also, but did nothing more than burn the shirt off the big man’s back and singe that heavy mat of hair on his brawny chest.

"Hey!! I’m here, too,” the Scotsman hollered.

“Well, then, get yer carcass out the way,” Wyldfyre yelled. “This man’s got work to do!”

That triggered a shouting match between the two most volatile and short-tempered members of the Star Force organization. It mattered not that one was a member of the Force proper and the other part of the Junior Force.

“Think a little, knucklehead!” Highlander bellowed.

Wyldfyre gestured in a demonstrative fashion his opinion of Highlander’s admonition, and muttered, “Rookie.”

Highlander soon found himself facing a man bigger than he. At least seven feet tall and like the Scotsman, well over 300 pounds. Highlander grabbed him and tossed him in front of Wyldfyre, who literally lit a fire under the man’s backside, sending him running and drawing from both the flame flinger and the immortal.
